Set up Camo on your phone and computer
- Install the two Camo apps. Download and install Camo Studio on your Mac or Windows computer, and Camo Camera on your iPhone or Android phone from its app store.
- Open both apps. Launch Camo Studio on the computer and Camo Camera on the phone. A phone connected to the computer but not running Camo Camera may still appear as “No devices connected.”
- Connect the phone. For the first setup, start with USB: connect the phone to the computer with a suitable cable. If you prefer to place the phone farther away or need its port for another accessory, pair over Wi-Fi instead.
- Select the phone and check the preview. In Camo Studio, choose the phone as the camera source and confirm that its live preview appears. If it does not, use the troubleshooting checks below.
- Choose Camo in the app you want to use. Open your video-call, recording, or streaming app and select the Camo camera as its video source. The exact setting name and menu location depend on that app and its version.
- Frame and secure the shot. Place the phone where it gives you the angle you want. A stand is optional for a regular call; a stable adjustable mount can make an overhead or top-down view easier to arrange.

Choose USB or Wi-Fi

These are practical trade-offs, not a guarantee of identical performance on every setup: the result can vary with the phone, computer, network, and selected video settings. Camo recommends wired use for the smoothest experience. Its Wi-Fi article was published October 20, 2022 and updated July 31, 2024, so the platform versions mentioned there are historical guidance rather than a complete current compatibility list. Android on Windows
Camo says Android users connecting to Windows can use Wi-Fi to avoid the USB debugging requirement associated with a wired connection. See the Camo FAQ for its connection guidance.

iPhone on Windows
Windows Studio needs Apple’s standard mobile components to communicate with an iPhone. Camo notes that installing iTunes commonly supplies them; if they are missing, Studio may prompt you to install them.
Position the phone for a better shot
Set the phone securely at eye level for a straightforward webcam view. For a game stream, tutorial, or tabletop demonstration, an adjustable phone mount can hold a top-down angle while leaving your hands free. Wi-Fi can help when a cable would limit the phone’s placement, but account for the possibility of extra delay or wireless hitching. If the picture needs to be as steady as possible, try USB first.
Troubleshoot common Camo connection problems
Camo Studio says “No devices connected”
- Confirm Camo Camera is installed and open on the phone.
- Check that the phone is connected or paired using the chosen method.
- In Camo Studio, select the phone and check whether its preview appears.
A physical USB connection alone may not be enough if Camo Camera is not running on the phone.

The Studio icon shows a warning
Camo’s interface guide says a warning indicates Studio has detected a problem—for example, a device is not working as expected, or another app is trying to use video while no device is selected. Check that the intended source is selected and that the phone and its camera app are running.
An iPhone will not connect to Camo Studio on Windows
Check that Apple’s standard mobile components are installed. Camo says iTunes commonly provides them; Studio may prompt for the components if they are absent.

The phone becomes warm
Camo says image processing happens on the phone and recommends keeping Screen Curtain enabled to reduce screen power and heat. Heavy effects and adjustments can add processing load. This is Camo’s guidance, not an independent thermal test; see its interface guide and FAQ.
The wireless picture hitches or feels delayed
Try USB if you can keep the phone tethered. If you need Wi-Fi for positioning or to free the phone port, check the wireless setup and remember that Camo’s macOS handling adds a small delay to smooth jitter. Actual results depend on your devices and network.

Check compatibility and version information
Camo’s Wi-Fi announcement describes iOS 13+ and macOS 10.15+ for that feature, along with supported Android and Windows versions. Because the article was published in 2022 and updated in 2024, those statements should not be treated as a complete current compatibility matrix. Confirm support for your exact phone and computer with Camo before relying on a particular connection method.
Camo’s interface support page displayed a latest-release label of 2.9.1 dated September 28, 2026. Its release notes separately surfaced Windows Studio 2.7.3 dated June 8, 2026 and macOS Studio 2.7.2 dated May 20, 2026. These are platform- and page-specific entries, not one universal version number. Check Camo’s interface support page and release notes for the relevant platform details.
