To loop a Malayalam music playlist on YouTube Live, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, send it from OBS, and set the audio to repeat. Use OBS’s Media Source for one file or its VLC Video source for a playlist of files. Before going public, confirm that you have rights for the songs to be livestreamed and, if you keep the replay, archived.
Before you set up the stream
Check channel eligibility
YouTube says a livestreamer must be at least 16, use a verified channel, and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check the channel’s eligibility before building the broadcast. YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements
Clear the playlist for live use
Playing a song on YouTube, finding it labelled “free,” or buying a copy does not by itself grant permission to broadcast it. YouTube’s terms put responsibility on the creator to hold the necessary rights, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Check that permission covers livestreaming in your intended territories and separately check whether it covers the archived replay. YouTube Livestream terms and conditions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can replace the stream with a placeholder, and an unresolved match can interrupt or end the broadcast. If you have a licence, YouTube advises asking the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; even licensed content may be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted. Creator Music tracks are not a workaround: YouTube says its licensed and revenue-sharing tracks are for long-form videos and cannot be used in livestreams or Shorts. Consider original music, YouTube’s Audio Library, or a third-party catalogue only after checking the licence terms for your exact live and replay use. YouTube: Use music from the Audio Library
Set up a repeating playlist in OBS
1. Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live, then choose the encoder workflow.
- Set the stream title, description, privacy and other metadata in Live Control Room.
- Copy the stream key and enter it in OBS’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: it is the credential that lets OBS send a feed to your YouTube channel. Do not share it or show it on screen. YouTube: Create a live stream with an encoder
2. Add a visual and your audio
- In OBS, create a scene and add a still image or another visual source. Check that it fits the canvas and is visible in the preview.
- For one audio or video file, add a Media Source, select the local file, and enable Loop in its properties. OBS lists MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV among the supported audio formats for Media Source. OBS: Media Sources
- For multiple files, add a VLC Video source, add the files to its playlist, then enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed for this source. The source also supports shuffle; looping repeats the playlist, while shuffle changes playback order. The documented settings do not establish that either method creates a seamless crossfade. 3. Check audio and preview before going public
- Play the scene and watch OBS’s audio meters. Confirm the intended source is producing signal and that the selected audio device is correct.
- Start the encoder stream with privacy set to Unlisted or Private for a test. Check the Live Control Room preview and listen for the correct playlist and level before switching to a public broadcast.
- When the preview and audio are right, set the intended privacy and start the public stream. Keep OBS running for as long as you want the DIY broadcast to continue.
OBS recommends testing before a broadcast, and YouTube recommends checking the Live Control Room preview. These are practical setup checks, not a guarantee that a particular playlist or connection will work without interruption. OBS: Streaming guide YouTube: Create a live stream with an encoder

Choose between one file and a playlist

Troubleshoot common problems
- YouTube does not accept the stream: Confirm the channel meets the eligibility requirements, the encoder stream is set up, and OBS has the correct stream key. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in Live Control Room and update OBS.
- The playlist stops instead of repeating: For a single file, open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. For multiple files, use VLC Video and enable Loop Playlist; check that VLC is installed and the playlist contains the intended files.
- The stream is live but silent: Check that the source is playing, OBS’s audio meters move, and the correct audio device is selected. Check the Live Control Room preview before making the stream public.
- A placeholder appears or YouTube interrupts the stream: YouTube may have detected third-party content. A licence does not necessarily prevent an interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel. Resolve the rights issue with the relevant owner before restarting.
- A claim arrives after the broadcast: The archived replay can receive a Content ID claim after the livestream ends. Review whether your permission covers both live transmission and the replay.
