Best FFmpeg Bitrate for 720p Bhajan Videos in a YouTube 24/7 Stream

For 720p30 H.264 bhajan streams, start at 5 Mbps video, then test CBR, two-second keyframes, audio, and upload stability before a 24/7 broadcast.

For a 720p, 30 fps YouTube live stream encoded with H.264, start at 5,000 kbps for video. YouTube’s current live-ingestion guidance recommends 3–8 Mbps for 720p30 H.264, so 5 Mbps is a practical starting point—not a YouTube-prescribed bitrate for bhajans or 24/7 broadcasts. Use a lower value if upload stability is the priority; test a higher one if the video has substantial movement or fine detail and your connection has reliable headroom.

Recommended FFmpeg settings for 720p bhajans

For 720p at 30 fps, H.264, configure a 5 Mbps video target, constant bitrate (CBR), and a keyframe interval of two seconds. For stereo audio, YouTube recommends 128 kbps at a 44.1 kHz sample rate. Audio bitrate is additional to video bitrate when estimating the stream’s total upload demand.

Setting Starting value Qualification
Video resolution and frame rate 1280 × 720 at 30 fps Use the frame rate of the actual video; 30 fps and 60 fps are separate cases.
Video codec and target H.264; 5,000 kbps 5 Mbps is an editorial starting point within YouTube’s 3–8 Mbps recommendation for 720p30 H.264 live ingestion.
Rate control CBR YouTube lists CBR in its live encoder settings.
Keyframes Every 2 seconds YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds.
Audio AAC or MP3; stereo at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz YouTube lists AAC and MP3 as accepted audio codecs and recommends the stated stereo bitrate and sample rate.
Ingest protocol RTMP or RTMPS Both are listed by YouTube for live ingestion.

YouTube’s bitrate guidance is determined by codec, resolution, and frame rate—not by genre. A still image behind devotional music may tolerate a lower video bitrate than moving footage, but the official recommendation does not prescribe a bhajan-specific setting. Treat 5 Mbps as a starting target to validate, not a guarantee of picture quality or uninterrupted streaming.

Translate the settings into FFmpeg options

For an H.264 encoder, -b:v 5000k expresses a 5,000 kbps video bitrate target. At 30 fps, -g 60 expresses a 60-frame GOP, which corresponds to two seconds. Configure the encoder for CBR as well; these two options alone do not establish CBR.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

FFmpeg’s rate-control behavior depends on the selected encoder and its options. There is no universal FFmpeg command or preset established for every encoder by these bitrate recommendations. Check the documentation for the encoder you actually use, confirm how it implements CBR and GOP length, and inspect the outgoing stream before relying on it for a long broadcast.

Choose between 3, 5, and 8 Mbps

YouTube’s current published live-ingestion guidance, retrieved October 3, 2026, gives a 3 Mbps minimum and an 8 Mbps recommended bitrate for 720p30 H.264. Those are YouTube’s ingest figures, not upload-video recommendations and not results of a controlled test on bhajan material or a 24-hour broadcast.

  • Try 3 Mbps when a more conservative video bitrate is needed to preserve upload headroom. It is YouTube’s listed minimum for this format, not a promise that a marginal connection will remain stable.
  • Start at 5 Mbps as a practical middle setting. It is an editorial choice within YouTube’s published range, not an official genre-specific recommendation.
  • Compare up to 8 Mbps if the picture contains movement or fine detail and your sustained connection can carry it reliably. YouTube lists 8 Mbps as recommended for 720p30 H.264.

Keep codec, resolution, frame rate, audio, and test material consistent when comparing settings. Assess visual quality, sustained upload stability, and encoder headroom over a representative run. No controlled bhajan or 24-hour comparison is established here, so do not assume a higher number will look better enough to justify reduced network margin.

Check upload capacity and test before going live

  1. Confirm the format. Verify that the source and output are 720p at 30 fps and H.264. If the stream is 60 fps, do not treat the 30 fps case as interchangeable; use the matching YouTube guidance.
  2. Allow for audio. Add the audio stream’s bitrate to the video target when considering upload demand. YouTube recommends 128 kbps stereo audio at 44.1 kHz.
  3. Check sustained upload reliability. Choose a quality your available connection can maintain, rather than relying on a single speed-test peak. Bitrate inside YouTube’s range does not by itself ensure a stable broadcast.
  4. Run a representative test. YouTube advises testing before the event with similar audio and video movement. Check stream health during the test and during the broadcast; revise bitrate downward if the connection cannot reliably sustain it.

Set up the YouTube live destination

YouTube’s live settings describe the stream key as encoder credentials and destination information. Use the key for the intended live stream, keep it private, and enter it in the encoder’s RTMP or RTMPS configuration. YouTube also documents live-stream settings for latency, DVR, and rights management; select those according to the broadcast’s needs rather than assuming they change the recommended video bitrate.

Check music and visual rights before a 24/7 broadcast

A devotional subject does not automatically make a particular recording or video safe to rebroadcast. Confirm that you have the necessary rights for the audio and visuals you use, including any recording of a bhajan. YouTube provides rights-management controls in its live settings, but those controls do not establish that a specific recording is cleared for use. A bitrate setting cannot prevent a rights claim or resolve a dispute over permission.

Troubleshoot common bitrate and stream problems

  • Stream health degrades or the stream becomes unstable: The upload connection may not sustain the combined video and audio demand. Reduce the video target within YouTube’s published range and test again under representative conditions.
  • The picture looks soft or breaks up despite a bitrate in range: Check the source quality, actual frame rate, encoder configuration, and outgoing stream. The published range is a live-ingestion recommendation, not a guarantee for every source or encoder.
  • Keyframes do not arrive at the recommended interval: Check the selected encoder’s GOP and keyframe options. For 30 fps, a 60-frame GOP corresponds to two seconds; verify the encoder’s actual output rather than assuming an FFmpeg flag behaves identically with every encoder.
  • Audio is missing or unsuitable: Confirm that the output includes an accepted audio codec, and check the stereo bitrate and sample rate against YouTube’s recommendations.
  • A long-running session fails even though the bitrate is correct: A bitrate number does not establish long-run reliability. Test the encoder and connection for an extended representative run, monitor stream health, and investigate the specific failure rather than simply raising the bitrate.
