Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →To loop one Sanskrit shloka recording in OBS, add it to a Media Source and enable Loop. For several recordings, use an OBS VLC Video source with a playlist and Loop Playlist enabled. Then connect OBS to a YouTube encoder stream, test the preview and audio, and start the broadcast. This guide covers both setups and the checks that help keep a devotional stream running reliably.
Choose a single recording or a playlist
Use Media Source when you want one local recording to repeat. Choose VLC Video when you need multiple files in a playlist. The documented controls do not establish a quality difference between these approaches; choose based on the number and order of recordings and whether you need playlist controls.
| Need | OBS source | What to enable | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Repeat one audio or video file | Media Source | Loop | A local media file in a supported format |
| Play several files in sequence | VLC Video | Loop Playlist | VLC installed; its bitness must match OBS (64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC) |
OBS documents MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV among the supported media formats for this workflow.
Prepare YouTube and OBS
- Check channel readiness. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. If live streaming has not previously been activated on the channel, initial activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Create or select an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open the live-stream setup and create or select an encoder stream. Copy its stream URL and stream key. YouTube uses these details to accept the encoder feed. Treat the key as a credential: do not share it, and reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS if it is exposed.
- Set up the OBS scene. Create or select a scene for the shloka broadcast. Add the relevant media source using the steps below, then add the YouTube stream URL and key in OBS’s stream settings. Labels and screen layout can vary by software version, so confirm the fields by their function rather than assuming a particular menu location.
Loop one Sanskrit shloka recording
- In the desired OBS scene, add a Media Source and select the local audio or video file.
- Enable Loop in the source properties. OBS will play the file again when playback completes.
- Leave Restart playback when source becomes active enabled if you want the file to start from its beginning whenever the source becomes active; this property is on by default in OBS’s documented settings.
- Check the OBS preview. Confirm the recording plays, the shloka’s audio is audible and at a suitable level, and any text or imagery is readable.
Loop a playlist of recordings
- Install VLC, matching its bitness to OBS. In particular, 64-bit OBS needs 64-bit VLC for the documented VLC Video source workflow.
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source and create or select the playlist of files you want to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist so playback returns to the beginning of the playlist after it reaches the end.
- Review the playlist order and test the source in the OBS preview. Listen for audio level and check any on-screen text or imagery across the files.
Set YouTube encoder options and check the connection
YouTube’s encoder guidance identifies RTMP or RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR) encoding and a recommended two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. Select the resolution and frame rate to suit the source and the upload connection; avoid selecting settings that the connection cannot sustain. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. This is platform guidance, not a guarantee of uninterrupted streaming.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Use the stream URL and key for the YouTube encoder stream you selected, and keep the key private.
- Set a bitrate your connection can sustain while leaving the recommended headroom.
- Match resolution and frame rate to the recording and available upload capacity.
- Before the broadcast, test the encoder and inspect YouTube’s Live Control Room preview. Confirm picture, audio and stream health before making the stream public.
Start the broadcast and monitor it
- Start the OBS encoder stream.
- Wait for the feed to appear in YouTube’s Live Control Room preview. Check that the correct recording or playlist is playing and that audio and visuals are acceptable.
- When the preview and stream health look right, go live from YouTube’s controls if your stream setup requires that step.
- While live, monitor stream health and audio/video quality. Keep an eye on the upload connection, especially if the bitrate is close to the connection’s sustainable capacity.
Copyright and permissions for shloka streams
A Sanskrit text’s traditional or public-domain status does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast a particular recording. Check the rights for the recording, performance, arrangement and accompanying images or artwork. You need permission or another valid legal basis for the actual assets you use; the rights status of a specific recording cannot be inferred from the language or age of the text.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| The file stops instead of repeating | Loop is disabled on a Media Source. | Open the source properties and enable Loop. |
| The playlist does not repeat | Loop Playlist is disabled, or the VLC Video source is not configured as intended. | Check the playlist and enable Loop Playlist. |
| VLC Video is unavailable or not working | VLC may be missing or its bitness may not match OBS. | Install the matching VLC version; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. |
| YouTube does not receive the encoder feed | The stream URL or key may be missing, incorrect or no longer current. | Compare the values with the selected encoder stream in YouTube Studio. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and update OBS. |
| The stream fails or appears unhealthy | The upload connection may not sustain the configured bitrate, or encoder settings may not follow YouTube’s guidance. | Check stream health, reduce demands to what the connection can support, leave 20% upload-bandwidth headroom, and verify CBR and the recommended keyframe interval. |
| Viewers cannot hear the shloka or read the visuals | The source may be silent, too quiet, obscured or difficult to read. | Check the OBS preview and audio level before going live, then inspect the YouTube preview as well. |
| Live streaming cannot be activated yet | The channel may not meet eligibility requirements, or first activation may still be pending. | Verify the channel and check for live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Allow up to 24 hours for initial activation. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a home computer or connection to stay on for a continuous YouTube stream, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the video from the cloud and can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream.
