Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To loop a playlist of local video files into YouTube Live, put the files in an FFmpeg concat list and use -stream_loop -1 on that input. This direct route is for clips with compatible stream layouts and parameters; if their codecs, resolutions, frame rates, audio layouts, or time bases differ, normalize them or use a filter-and-re-encode workflow before relying on a seamless loop.
1. Check whether the files can be concatenated directly
FFmpeg’s concat demuxer reads a playlist as one virtual input. It is the simpler option when the files have compatible streams and parameters. The concat filter is suited to workflows that require decoding, filtering, and re-encoding. Neither method makes mismatched clips identical automatically: varying codecs, resolutions, frame rates, audio layouts, or time bases can prevent a clean direct concatenation. See the FFmpeg FAQ and FFmpeg format documentation.
Compare the clips’ video and audio properties before choosing the route. If they do not line up, prepare consistent versions first—for example, by scaling to a common resolution, converting to one frame rate, and ensuring the audio streams have a consistent layout. That conversion costs encoding work and may add generation loss; a compatible demuxer workflow can avoid decoding and re-encoding.
2. Create the concat playlist
Save a text file named playlist.txt alongside the video files, with one entry per file:

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

file 'clip-03.mp4'
FFmpeg reads these paths from the host running the command. Keep the playlist and media accessible to that account. If a filename or path contains spaces or punctuation, quote it according to the concat file format and verify the syntax with a short test run.
3. Set up YouTube Live and protect the stream key
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or select the stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into the FFmpeg output URL in the command below. Treat the key like a password: do not expose it in public scripts, screenshots, or logs. If it is compromised, reset it in Live Control Room.
- Use RTMPS when available. YouTube Help says, “We recommend streaming to YouTube Live with RTMPS.”
YouTube’s current live encoder guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, and up to 60 fps. It recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a keyframe frequency of two seconds, no more than four seconds. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and live stream settings.

4. Run a starting FFmpeg command
For compatible input files, this H.264/AAC example reads the playlist at its native playback rate and repeats it indefinitely. Replace the example server, app, and key path with the stream URL and key from YouTube Live Control Room:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.txt
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -b:v 6M -maxrate 6M -bufsize 12M
-g 60 -r 30 -c:a aac -b:a 128k
-f flv 'rtmps://SERVER/APP/STREAM_KEY'
-stream_loop -1 repeats the input without a limit. -re reads a file input at its native rate instead of sending it as fast as possible, which is appropriate when simulating a live source. FFmpeg options are order-sensitive: input options such as -re and -stream_loop go before -i; encoding and output options go after the input and before the output URL. See the FFmpeg command-line documentation.

The command is a starting template, not a universal preset. It encodes at 30 fps with -g 60, a 60-frame GOP—two seconds at that frame rate. If you change the output frame rate, adjust the GOP to preserve the intended keyframe interval. The example’s 6 Mbps video bitrate is below YouTube’s current H.264 recommendation for 720p at 30 fps, so choose bitrate, resolution, frame rate, and scaling together using YouTube’s current ingest table rather than copying the example blindly.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.5. Test before leaving the stream unattended
- Run a short test using clips representative of the playlist, including motion and audio.
- Confirm that FFmpeg can read every playlist entry and that the output appears in Live Control Room.
- Watch YouTube’s stream health and messages during the test. Check audio presence, picture, bitrate, and whether the playlist transitions correctly.
- Only then start the longer stream. Decide how you will notice a stopped FFmpeg process, missing local file, or network failure and restart it if needed.
Some files have no audio. If the output needs a consistent audio stream, add a silence source or otherwise handle the missing audio in the encoding workflow. Do not assume FFmpeg will reconnect automatically in every failure mode; plan to monitor and restart the process.

6. Troubleshoot common failures
- FFmpeg cannot open a playlist file: confirm the process is running under an account that can access both
playlist.txtand every referenced video. Check relative paths and filename spelling. - A clip fails or the transition breaks: inspect the files’ stream properties. If codec, resolution, frame rate, audio layout, or time base differs, normalize the clips or use a filter/re-encode workflow to make output streams consistent.
- YouTube does not receive the stream: check that the output URL uses the server and app details from Live Control Room and that the stream key is current. Reset a key if it may have been exposed.
- Connection or stream health is unstable: compare the selected bitrate with the available upload capacity and leave headroom. Recheck the current YouTube recommendations for the chosen codec, resolution, and frame rate.
- Video plays but audio is absent: check whether the source clips actually contain audio and whether the chosen workflow produces a consistent audio stream. Add silence or handle audio explicitly if required.
- The feed stops after an interruption: check the FFmpeg process, host, files, and network. Arrange monitoring and a restart method; do not count on automatic recovery in every failure mode.
