To create a 24/7 YouTube rain sounds stream, prepare rain audio and visuals you have worldwide rights to use, send them through an encoder such as OBS to an eligible YouTube channel, and keep the encoder, power and network running. Plan separately for stream interruptions and replay preservation: YouTube says broadcasts longer than 12 hours may not be archived, so record a local backup if you need one.
Before you start: check channel access
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room, choose encoder streaming and configure the stream there. YouTube supports encoder-based broadcasts; OBS is one software option, not a requirement. YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and setup explain the current channel eligibility and setup path.
Prepare rain audio and visuals you can use
Use recordings, images, video, and any music only if you own them or have rights that cover worldwide use on YouTube. Keep licenses and other permissions on file. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Licensed material may still need the rights owner to allowlist your channel through Content ID. YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams describes the scanning and possible enforcement.
Rights clearance and monetization eligibility are separate questions. A license can establish permission to use material, but it does not by itself establish that a stream meets YouTube’s monetization rules.

Build and start the live feed
- Choose your encoder. A computer running software such as OBS can combine the rain audio and visual scene and send the resulting feed to YouTube. A hardware encoder is another possible approach. Compare options by sustained encoding capacity at your chosen output settings, cost, power use, and how easily you can monitor them remotely; the official sources do not establish a particular computer or hardware configuration for nonstop operation.
- Configure YouTube’s stream. In the Live Control Room, select encoder streaming and follow the stream setup shown for your channel. Use the stream settings YouTube provides there when configuring your encoder.
- Set up your scene and audio. Add the rain recording as an audio source and choose a visual scene, such as a still image or footage you have permission to use. Check that audio is present, levels are not clipping, and the picture is what you intend to broadcast.
- Connect the encoder to YouTube. Enter the stream details and key from the Live Control Room in your encoder’s YouTube streaming configuration. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the broadcast.
- Test before relying on the stream. Check the encoder preview and the YouTube live preview, including audio, video, and stream status. OBS publishes setup and encoding help; consult its current guidance alongside the settings YouTube shows for your stream. OBS streaming setup and OBS encoding guidance cover its configuration.
Keep the broadcast running—and plan for failures
A 24/7 label is a goal, not an uptime guarantee. A DIY encoder depends on the computer, electricity, network equipment, internet service, and encoder software remaining available. Keep the setup monitored and decide who will respond if the feed stops. A UPS may help during a brief power interruption, but it cannot cover a long outage or restore internet service.
There is no official equipment configuration in the cited guidance that certifies a computer-based stream for continuous operation. Choose equipment based on the output you intend to send, test it under sustained use, and consider what you will do if the computer or connection fails.

Will YouTube save my 24/7 livestream?
Do not rely on a single continuous broadcast as your only archive. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. It recommends recording a local archive as a backup. YouTube’s archive guidance explains the limit and backup recommendation.
If preserving replays matters, record locally and consider ending and restarting scheduled sessions before they pass 12 hours. That is a practical way to work around YouTube’s stated archive limit, not a guarantee that every shorter stream will be archived in every case.

Can a rain sounds stream be monetized?
Monetization is uncertain. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams and expect content to be original and authentic, rather than generic, mass-produced, or repetitive. A static image paired with a loop may not meet those expectations; do not assume that a stream qualifies just because you created it or obtained permission for its assets. Make the work materially distinctive and review YouTube’s channel monetization policies before building a revenue plan around it.
