How to Batch-Compress Wedding Videos for a YouTube Live Loop in India

Batch-compressing prepares your wedding clips; a separate encoder sends the loop to YouTube Live. Here’s how to create and check working copies, configure the stream, and test it from the broadcast connection.

Batch-compressing wedding videos prepares files; it does not start a livestream or guarantee a seamless loop. The practical workflow is to preserve your originals, create and check consistent working copies, then send the finished sequence to YouTube Live through a separately configured encoder. YouTube does not publish a special India-only live bitrate profile, so test the actual connection and computer you plan to use.

Plan the video set before compressing

First decide whether you want one continuous montage or a sequence of separate clips. A montage may require editing and matching the clips before export; a sequence requires a playback method that can move from one file to the next. Do not assume clips with different formats, frame rates, dimensions, or audio tracks can be concatenated cleanly without preparation.

  • Make an inventory of the clips, noting their resolution, frame rate, duration, audio, and file size.
  • Keep untouched originals in a separate folder or on separate storage. Create compressed working copies so you can return to the originals if the export looks or sounds wrong.
  • Choose an output resolution and frame rate based on the footage you have, the quality you want, and the capacity of the computer that will encode the live stream. A lower resolution or bitrate can reduce file size, but may also discard detail; the actual result depends on the source and encoding settings.
  • Check that you have permission to use the footage and any music in a public livestream. Keep your YouTube stream key private.

There is no guaranteed file-size reduction: source dimensions, frame rates, audio tracks, and existing compression all affect the result. Test an export before committing the whole set.

Batch-compress and check a sample first

  1. Choose a batch-capable video encoder. Add copies of the clips, not your only originals. Choose a common output profile only if it suits the material; forcing different source frame rates or aspect ratios into one profile can change motion or framing.
  2. Set the output deliberately. For ordinary YouTube uploads, YouTube’s published guidance recommends MP4, H.264, progressive scan, and encoding at the same frame rate as the recording. Its upload recommendations also describe settings such as High Profile, closed GOP, CABAC, and 4:2:0. These are upload recommendations, not a recipe for live ingestion. See YouTube’s upload encoding settings.
  3. Export one representative clip. Pick footage with movement, speech, music, and any difficult lighting or detail that appears in the wedding set. Use the sample to judge the chosen resolution and compression before applying the settings to every file.
  4. Watch and listen to the sample. Check for visible blocking or softness, clipped or missing audio, and audio that drifts out of sync. If the result is not acceptable, adjust the profile and export another sample.
  5. Batch-export the remaining clips. Check several outputs, including clips from different cameras or recording settings. Confirm the files play through and that the sequence has the intended order before you configure the stream.

The file-encoding profile above is for preparing uploads. YouTube’s live encoder requirements are separate: for RTMP/RTMPS, its current guidance lists H.264, H.265, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR); frame rates up to 60 fps; and a two-second keyframe interval, which must not exceed four seconds. Consult YouTube’s live encoder settings for the current values. The live guide is volatile and localized page variants have surfaced conflicting bitrate tables, so use the values shown in YouTube’s current guide or Live Control Room for your selected resolution and frame rate rather than treating a copied table as universal.

Configure and test the YouTube Live stream

  1. Set up the broadcast in YouTube Live Control Room. Create or schedule the event as appropriate for your channel, then select the encoder workflow and obtain the stream key and server details shown there. Exact controls and eligibility can depend on the channel; follow the options displayed in your account.
  2. Enter the stream details in your encoder. Use YouTube’s RTMP/RTMPS settings and keep the stream key confidential. Set the outgoing encoder separately from the compression profile used for your stored video files.
  3. Match the outgoing settings to the stream. Choose a resolution and frame rate your source material and computer can handle, select CBR, and use YouTube’s current recommended bitrate for that combination. Set a two-second keyframe interval, and do not exceed four seconds. YouTube’s recommendations are not a promise that a particular internet connection can sustain the stream.
  4. Run a representative test from the broadcast location. Use the same computer and internet connection you expect to use for the event. Include movement and audio, then check the Live Control Room’s stream-health messages. YouTube recommends testing with representative content and monitoring stream health; its guidance is at YouTube Live encoder settings.
  5. Resolve problems before the event. If the stream reports connection or bitrate problems, check the encoder’s selected bitrate and stability of the actual upload connection, then test again. If video looks poor, compare a lower output resolution or frame rate and review the sample files; do not assume that compressing the stored clips will fix a live-ingest problem.

No India-specific encoder profile or minimum connection speed is established in YouTube’s cited guidance. For an India-based broadcast, test the connection where the stream will actually run rather than relying on a general speed figure.

Common problems and fixes

  • The files are smaller, but the live stream will not start: Compression only prepares files. Configure an encoder and YouTube Live event separately, then confirm the stream key and server details are entered correctly.
  • The stream health is poor or the connection drops: Check the outgoing encoder settings against YouTube’s current guide and test the real upload connection from the event location. A file’s bitrate and the live stream’s bitrate are different settings.
  • A clip looks blurred or blocky after export: Revisit the sample’s resolution and compression settings. Compare it with the original at the same point in the video before batching a revised export.
  • Audio is missing, clipped, or out of sync: Recheck the source audio tracks and the sample export, then test the live encoder with representative audio before the broadcast.
  • The sequence has a gap or jumps between clips: Check the playback order and transitions in the chosen playback method. A batch export by itself does not make a seamless loop.
  • A stream key may have been exposed: Treat it as compromised and use YouTube’s account controls to replace or reset it before going live.

Or let it run in the cloud

If the goal is to keep a prerecorded wedding-video loop live on YouTube without leaving a home computer running, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera feed. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on; each slot supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; the Monthly plan is $9.99 per month. Start the free day on StreamNeo.
