To stream a Marathi devotional program on YouTube from a cloud server, either run an encoder such as OBS Studio on a cloud virtual machine (VM), or send a compatible source feed to a managed cloud livestream service. For a venue event with singers and cameras on site, a venue-side encoder may be simpler; a cloud VM is more useful for remotely managed graphics, scheduled prerecorded material, or centralized production. YouTube still requires an eligible channel and a configured encoder or compatible service connected to the stream URL and key from Live Control Room.
Choose the right cloud setup
“Cloud server” can mean two different production arrangements. Pick based on where the audio and video originate and who will operate the broadcast.

Google’s Live Stream API best practices describe managed-service input considerations. OBS’s system requirements explain why VM suitability depends on the actual workload.
Check channel eligibility and prepare the event
Before configuring a server, confirm the channel can go live. YouTube’s current live-streaming eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and the person streaming must be at least 16.

- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule the event.
- Set the title, audience, visibility, and thumbnail. Scheduling provides a watch page that organizers can share ahead of the program.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from the stream settings. Keep the key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send content to the channel’s stream.

Set up OBS on a cloud VM
Choose and install an appropriate VM environment
Do not size a VM from a universal “minimum” recommendation. OBS says CPU demand varies with encoder choice, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity; meeting basic requirements does not guarantee adequate streaming performance. Decide the output format, encoding method, number of sources, and whether you need an interactive desktop before selecting an instance, then test the exact production setup during rehearsal.

For Linux, OBS lists OpenGL 3.3-compatible graphics and X or Wayland display support. A cloud VM without suitable graphics or display support may need a different encoder arrangement or a managed-service architecture. OBS provides Linux installation instructions, including Ubuntu 18.04 or newer guidance and a Flathub recommendation for non-Ubuntu distributions. Check those live instructions before installation because package steps may change.
Build the scene for devotional content
- Add the video source, image, text, and audio inputs the program needs. If singers or speakers are at the venue, route an appropriate audio feed to the encoder.
- Keep the devotional subject and event information legible on phones. Use a clear Marathi title or transliteration and restrained overlays rather than crowding the picture.
- Check that Devanagari fonts are installed and render correctly in the VM’s operating system. Preview names, titles, and any on-screen lyrics before the event.
- Listen for clean, synchronized audio. A cloud scene cannot capture a venue microphone unless a suitable audio feed reaches the VM.
YouTube’s encoder guide describes microphones and other audio/video equipment as typical hardware for encoder streams. The font and layout checks above are practical production advice, not YouTube requirements.

Connect the encoder to YouTube securely
- In OBS, open the streaming settings and select YouTube if available. Otherwise, choose the custom server option and paste the stream URL from Live Control Room into the server field and the stream key into the key field.
- Use the RTMPS URL from Live Control Room when the encoder supports it. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP over TLS/SSL, which encrypts the connection. The control room may initially show an ordinary RTMP URL; retrieve the RTMPS option there rather than guessing a URL.
- Restrict access to the VM and its configuration, and avoid putting the key in screenshots, public scripts, or logs. If it is exposed, rotate or replace it in YouTube’s stream settings.
- Save the settings and start the encoder. Keep the key confidential even during troubleshooting; share a preview or error message without revealing the credential.

Rehearse, preview, and go live
- Run a private or unlisted rehearsal before the public program. Start the encoder and wait for its preview to appear in Live Control Room.
- Check the stream from a separate viewer device. Confirm that audio is present and in sync, Marathi text renders correctly, the scene is composed well on a phone, and the stream remains stable.
- For a scheduled broadcast, follow Live Control Room’s preview and Go live flow. Select Go live when the preview and program are ready, as directed by YouTube.
- During rehearsal, test what happens if the encoder process or VM restarts or the network disconnects. A general-purpose VM does not have a documented guaranteed restart or failover behavior in the cited guidance; plan for an operator to check and restore the stream.
Handle copyright and preserve the broadcast
Clear rights for the specific music and recording
Devotional or religious subject matter does not by itself establish permission to broadcast a bhajan, chant, recording, or performance. Use material you own or are licensed to stream, and verify the rights for both the composition and the particular recording or performance. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish the rights status of any specific devotional work.

End the stream and keep a backup when needed
End the event in Live Control Room and stop sending encoder content. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. If a program may exceed 12 hours, or retaining the recording is mission-critical, make a separate recording or backup plan rather than relying on automatic archiving.
