To stream a Hindi bhajan playlist around the clock with OBS, add the recordings as a looping VLC Video source, connect OBS to a YouTube Live broadcast with its stream key, and choose resolution, frame rate and bitrate using YouTube’s current encoder guidance and your computer’s stable upload capacity. Before going public, test the playlist end to end and confirm you have permission to stream every recording and visual. OBS can keep media looping, but the computer, network and YouTube connection still need to keep working.
What you need before setting up OBS
- A computer that can run OBS continuously, plus a stable internet connection with upload capacity comfortably above the stream’s configured bitrate.
- The bhajan audio and video files you plan to broadcast, in the order you want them to play, with the rights needed for streaming them.
- VLC installed if you want OBS’s multi-file playlist source. OBS documents that VLC is required for the VLC Video source. OBS Media Sources
- A YouTube channel enabled for live streaming. YouTube says enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
A dedicated mini PC is one option for a host you intend to leave on, but hardware alone cannot guarantee an uninterrupted stream. The computer and its network remain part of the broadcast path.
Prepare the bhajan playlist and make it loop
Check the files and playback order
Collect only files you are allowed to stream. Play each one through before adding it to OBS, check that it has the intended audio and visuals, and arrange the sequence you want. Consistent playback and a planned order make it easier to spot a missing, silent or unsuitable item during your test.
Use VLC Video for multiple files
- Install VLC if it is not already installed, then open OBS.
- In the Sources dock, select + and choose VLC Video. Give the source a recognizable name.
- In the source properties, add the files to the playlist in the intended order.
- Leave Shuffle Playlist off for a predictable sequence. Turn on Loop Playlist so playback starts again after the source reaches the end of its playlist.
- Confirm the source appears correctly in the OBS preview and that its audio is present in the mixer.
OBS documents the VLC Video source’s playlist and loop controls; the guide says shuffle is separate and defaults off. OBS Media Sources

Use Media Source for one repeating file
If you have one file rather than a list, add OBS’s built-in Media Source and use its separate Loop control. VLC Video is the documented choice for a playlist of multiple files; Media Source is the simpler option for one repeated item. OBS Media Sources
Connect OBS to YouTube Live safely
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live broadcast using the encoder workflow. Enable live streaming on the channel first if necessary; first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours. Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
- Open the broadcast’s stream settings in YouTube Live Control Room and obtain its stream URL and stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Select YouTube if it is available in the service list and enter the key, or choose the option to use a custom server and enter YouTube’s stream URL and key as directed by the current OBS interface.
- Prefer RTMPS if OBS offers it for the connection. YouTube recommends RTMPS for live ingestion. Manage live stream settings
- Keep the stream key private. Treat it like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update OBS with the replacement. Manage live stream settings
For a scheduled broadcast, review its title, privacy, latency, DVR, auto-start and auto-stop settings in YouTube Studio. Their behavior depends on the selections you make. A non-interactive playlist usually has less need for low latency than a live conversation; YouTube cautions that lower latency can increase buffering. Manage live stream settings

Choose OBS video and bitrate settings for the source
There is no single bitrate or OBS preset that fits every bhajan stream. In Settings > Video, choose a resolution and frame rate suited to the source artwork or video and to the computer. In Settings > Output, use YouTube’s current encoder table to select the bitrate for that resolution and frame rate, then verify that the internet connection can sustain it with room for ordinary variation. YouTube transcodes incoming live video into formats for viewers on different devices and networks. YouTube encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions
- Resolution: Avoid sending more detail than the source can usefully show. Static devotional artwork may not benefit from the same settings as detailed motion video.
- Frame rate: Match the source and the motion in the visuals rather than copying a gaming-stream preset.
- Bitrate: Select it from YouTube’s current guidance for the chosen resolution and frame rate. Do not assume that a setting suitable for another creator’s setup will suit your connection.
- Encoder: The appropriate OBS encoder depends on the hardware encoder available on the computer and its stability. There is no universally suitable codec or setting established for every machine.

Test before starting a public 24/7 broadcast
Use an unlisted test broadcast where appropriate. Check the entire playlist, including the transition from the last item back to the first, before relying on it for a long-running stream.
- Start the stream and verify that YouTube receives the feed and reports stream health.
- Watch the video and listen to the audio for missing files, unexpected gaps, clipping, silence or incorrect ordering.
- Confirm the playlist restarts at the end and continues with the intended sequence.
- Watch OBS for dropped frames and confirm the computer remains responsive while streaming.
- Test how OBS behaves after a brief network interruption; OBS has a configurable automatic reconnect feature. OBS Studio Overview Guide
A loop control only addresses media playback. It does not prevent a computer failure, internet outage, OBS problem or interruption from YouTube.

Plan for interruptions and replay archives
Do not count on one 24-hour YouTube replay
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A continuous 24/7 broadcast crosses that limit, so do not rely on YouTube to produce a complete replay. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. Archive live streams
Choose an archive plan deliberately
- If a replay matters, investigate dividing the broadcast into shorter scheduled segments and verify how ending and restarting affects your channel and viewers.
- If you record locally, check available disk capacity and test the recording and recovery procedure before depending on it for a long run.
- Decide whether continuity or a replay archive is the priority: segmenting may help with replay capture, but it requires planned broadcast restarts.
Clear rights for the recordings and visuals
A bhajan’s devotional subject or traditional lyrics do not automatically give you permission to stream a particular modern recording, arrangement or video. YouTube’s live-stream terms require the necessary rights for live content, including music rights. YouTube also scans live broadcasts for third-party matches; a match can trigger a placeholder, interruption or termination. Even a license may not prevent an interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. YouTube livestream terms · Copyright issues with live streams

Troubleshoot common OBS playlist-stream problems
- VLC Video is missing from the Sources menu: Install VLC, then reopen OBS and check again. The documented VLC playlist source requires VLC. OBS Media Sources
- The playlist stops at the final item: Open the VLC Video source properties and enable Loop Playlist. For one file, check the separate Loop option on Media Source.
- Items play in an unexpected order: Check the playlist order and turn off Shuffle Playlist if you want a fixed sequence.
- YouTube does not receive the OBS feed: Confirm the selected YouTube broadcast, stream URL and key. If the key was exposed or changed, reset or replace it in Live Control Room and update OBS. Prefer RTMPS when offered.
- Video stutters or frames drop: Check OBS and YouTube stream health, then compare the configured bitrate with the sustained upload capacity. Reduce the output demands using YouTube’s current encoder table if the connection cannot maintain the chosen settings.
- Audio is missing or unexpectedly quiet: Check that the VLC Video source is visible, its audio is reaching the OBS mixer, and the source file itself plays correctly. Recheck levels in a test broadcast before going public.
- The stream is interrupted despite looping: Looping does not repair a computer, network or platform failure. Check OBS reconnect behavior, the network, YouTube’s stream health and the broadcast’s configured settings.
- A live stream is interrupted over music: Review the rights for the exact recording and visuals, including any Content ID allowlisting required by the rights holder. YouTube may interrupt or terminate a broadcast after a match.
