First check whether the problem affects only YouTube on one device, or also affects other apps and devices. Run MyJio diagnostics, compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet or another internet connection where possible, and give Jio support the router model, firmware version and exact error if the problem continues. Official YouTube and Jio guidance reviewed for this article does not identify a specific Jio firmware release as the cause or provide a model-specific fix.
Start by identifying what is disconnecting
Before changing settings, note what happens and where:
- Which device is affected: a TV, phone, computer or set-top box?
- Is it connected over Wi-Fi or Ethernet?
- What exact message appears? YouTube lists errors including “Connection to server lost.” and “Playback error. Tap to retry.” (YouTube Help).
- Do other apps or services disconnect too? Do other devices on JioFiber have the same problem?
- If visible in MyJio or the router interface, what are the router model and firmware version? Note approximately when the update occurred.
The update’s timing is useful information for troubleshooting, but it does not by itself establish the cause. The official guidance available does not document a Jio model-specific firmware remedy.
Run JioFiber diagnostics in MyJio
- Link your JioFiber account in the MyJio app.
- Open Home, then JioCare.
- Choose Run Diagnostics and follow the result shown in the app.
Jio says its diagnostic checks connection health, router status, device configuration and Wi-Fi strength. It may flag slow speed, weak signal, an offline router, a configuration error or device overload, then suggest actions or support options. If the app cannot resolve the issue, raise a service request through its support flow. (JioFiber troubleshooting.)

Restart once if the diagnostics or symptoms call for it
Jio says restarting the router refreshes its network connection and can resolve minor speed or connectivity issues. Its support article recommends restarting once a month. Treat that as general maintenance guidance, not proof that repeated restarts will fix a firmware fault. (Jio router restart guidance.)
Separate a YouTube or device issue from a network issue
Use comparisons to narrow the cause rather than changing several things at once. These checks help isolate the problem; they do not confirm a firmware defect.

- Try another internet connection. Replay the same YouTube stream on the affected device using a different connection, if available. YouTube recommends testing another connection for playback problems. (YouTube TV troubleshooting.)
- Compare devices and services. Check whether another device on JioFiber can play YouTube and whether the affected device loses access to other services. If multiple devices or services drop, investigate the network and router with MyJio. If only one YouTube app or device is affected, focus on that app and device. This is a diagnostic inference, not a confirmed diagnosis.
- On a TV or streaming device, close and reopen YouTube, restart the device, check for app and device software updates, and test YouTube on another supported device or playback method. (YouTube TV troubleshooting; YouTube playback help.)
- On a phone or tablet, clear the YouTube app cache, then try playback again. Also test the app on another connection. (YouTube playback help.)
- Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet. If the affected device has an Ethernet port, connect it temporarily to the router and replay the stream. A hardwired connection provides a useful comparison with Wi-Fi, but does not establish that a cable will fix the underlying issue. (Google Fiber Wi-Fi guidance.)
Check speed, Wi-Fi signal and network load
YouTube lists these approximate sustained speeds for video playback. They are recommendations, not guarantees against interruptions. (YouTube Help; page year not stated.)

For YouTube TV, a separate troubleshooting page recommends at least 7 Mbps for HD streaming and advises testing near the TV and checking router range and interference. - Try a lower playback quality and see whether the interruptions change.
- Test near the TV or other affected device. Consider distance from the router, walls or metal obstructions, and other possible sources of Wi-Fi interference.
- Check whether many devices are using the connection at the same time.
If MyJio indicates weak coverage, a Jio Extender may be relevant for improving coverage in a larger home; it is not a demonstrated fix for a post-update reconnect problem. (Jio Extender information.)
When to contact Jio support
Raise a Jio service request if MyJio flags a router, configuration, signal or service issue, or if several devices or services disconnect. Include:

- Router model and firmware version, if available.
- Approximate date of the update and when the reconnects began.
- The affected devices, whether they use Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and the exact YouTube error.
- Whether other apps or devices are affected, and what happened when you tested another connection or Ethernet.
- The result of MyJio Run Diagnostics.
The official Jio guidance reviewed does not document a supported firmware rollback procedure. Do not install unofficial firmware or treat a factory reset as a routine response; ask Jio support what steps are appropriate for your router model.
