Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?

Assuming you stream on YouTube Live, measure upload speed when your connection is busy, keep the stream bitrate within stable upload capacity with about 20% headroom, and use a wired connection for a computer-based encoder where practical. If only some viewers have trouble, test their devices and connections before changing the stream. Other platforms may use different labels and settings.
First identify where buffering happens
Buffering can start before the stream reaches YouTube, or after YouTube delivers it to a viewer. The title alone cannot identify the cause: the encoder, upload connection, platform settings, and viewer devices are unknown.
- Record when it happens. Note the approximate time and whether the picture freezes, the stream disconnects, or audio and video behave differently.
- Ask a few viewers for useful details. Ask whether others are affected, and note each viewer’s device, YouTube app or browser, network type, and approximate time of the problem.
- Compare reports across connections. If viewers on different networks report trouble at the same time, investigate the outgoing stream and encoder. If only one or a few viewers report it, check their playback conditions before changing encoder settings. One report does not establish a wider ISP problem.
Stabilize the broadcaster’s upload
For a computer-based stream, measure upload speed—not just download speed or the headline speed on an internet plan. Test during representative busy hours and, if possible, while the stream or a similar workload is running. YouTube recommends that the total stream bitrate fit within available upload bandwidth with 20% headroom; other activity on a shared home or venue connection can reduce the capacity left for the encoder (YouTube Live encoder settings; YouTube Help on bandwidth).
- Compare the encoder’s outgoing bitrate with the upload capacity that is actually available, not a best-case speed-test result.
- If the connection is unstable or lacks headroom, lower the resolution and bitrate until the stream can be sustained reliably.
- Pause or limit heavy uploads, downloads, backups, and other traffic on the same connection during streaming.
- Where the computer and router have Ethernet ports, connect them with an Ethernet cable of suitable length. YouTube recommends Ethernet for computer live streaming; it cannot fix congestion or an unstable ISP connection (YouTube Help).
Choose a sustainable resolution and encoder settings
Higher quality requires more upload capacity. YouTube’s H.264 guidance lists these example settings for 30 fps; they are ingest recommendations, not guarantees that a particular connection can sustain them or that each viewer will receive that quality:

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Output | Listed minimum bitrate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 10 Mbps |
These figures apply to the listed H.264 examples. YouTube’s recommendation changes with resolution, frame rate, and codec, so do not treat one bitrate as correct for every stream. YouTube also transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for different devices and network conditions (YouTube’s encoder settings guidance).
- Set rate control to CBR (constant bitrate).
- Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Choose a frame rate and resolution your connection and encoder can maintain, rather than raising them solely to improve the picture on paper.
If YouTube’s Live Control Room or your encoder reports an unhealthy stream, check the outgoing bitrate, encoder messages, CPU load, source audio and video, and the local recording. YouTube’s transcoding helps adapt delivery to viewers, but it cannot make an unstable source upload reliable.

Use normal latency for a non-interactive devotional stream
A continuous bhajan stream usually does not need conversation to happen with minimal delay. On YouTube, normal latency is a sensible starting point when real-time interaction is not important. Lower latency leaves less read-ahead buffer and can make playback more vulnerable to interruptions. YouTube Help puts it plainly: “Lower latency may mean more playback buffering.” (YouTube Help on latency.)
Do not switch to HLS as a buffering fix without a specific reason. YouTube’s HLS ingestion documentation says HLS has higher latency than RTMP because it sends segments (YouTube HLS ingestion).

Test a viewer’s playback before changing the stream
If the outgoing stream looks healthy and only some viewers are affected, have them try playback on another network and device. A viewer can switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, try the YouTube app or a supported browser, and clear the app cache. On YouTube TV, YouTube describes the default broadcast delay setting as best for minimizing interruptions (YouTube playback troubleshooting).
These checks help separate a viewer-side playback problem from a broadcaster-side fault. Avoid lowering the stream’s resolution for everyone based only on one viewer’s report.

Rehearse and monitor a 24/7 stream
Before relying on a continuous stream, schedule an unlisted rehearsal and check it from both the encoder and a viewer device. YouTube recommends setting up in advance, previewing, testing encoder failover, checking mobile access, and monitoring audio and video. These precautions can expose problems, but they do not guarantee nonstop uptime (YouTube Live streaming checklist).
- Watch the Live Control Room’s stream health and encoder status while the rehearsal runs.
- Check picture, motion, and audio—not only whether the stream appears online.
- Test playback on a different device and network from the encoder’s connection.
- For a 24/7 operation, schedule checks and rehearse any failover approach rather than assuming it will work when needed.
