Castr’s published limit for a single pre-recorded video file is 1 hour on Starter, 2 hours on Standard, and 4 hours on Premium, Ultra, or Events. That is a per-file cap, not a limit on how long a playlist can run: infinite looping is included on Premium and higher.
How Castr’s pre-recorded video limits work
Castr’s pricing comparison lists the maximum length of an individual uploaded pre-recorded file by plan. It also lists separate limits for playlist file count, storage, simultaneous pre-recorded streams, and looping. The figures below are from Castr’s published plan comparison, accessed October 3, 2026; plan details can change, so check Castr’s current pricing page before subscribing.

“Not included” means Castr’s plan comparison does not list infinite looping for Starter or Standard. Castr supports pre-recorded streaming on every listed plan, but a longer playlist does not raise the maximum length of any one file.
Does the four-hour cap stop a 24/7 YouTube stream?
No. The four-hour limit applies to each uploaded file. Castr lists infinite looping on Premium, Ultra, and Events, so a playlist can continue broadcasting by replaying its contents. The playlist still has to fit that plan’s file-count and storage limits. Starter and Standard do not include infinite loop in Castr’s published comparison.

Castr’s cloud workflow plays the uploaded file and sends it as a live stream to connected destinations, including YouTube; Castr says an encoder or OBS is not required. Its Help Center describes uploading one or more videos, arranging them as a playlist, and scheduling the stream. Don’t confuse Castr’s file cap with YouTube’s archive handling
Castr’s uploaded-file maximum and YouTube’s treatment of a livestream archive are separate limits. A Google-hosted production guide says livestreams up to 12 hours are automatically turned into video-on-demand, and advises teams to record streams longer than 12 hours for manual upload. The guide’s publication date is not established here, so verify current YouTube Help guidance before relying on that archive rule. It does not change Castr’s per-file limits.

Castr also has an older Help Center article describing live-source streams that can continue without a duration limit while the subscription remains active and there is enough streaming bandwidth. That concerns a live source, not an uploaded pre-recorded file, so it does not override the explicit file-length limits in Castr’s plan comparison.
Which Castr plan fits the video you want to stream?
- Up to 60 minutes per file: Starter, Standard, Premium, Ultra, and Events all meet the duration requirement. Compare storage, playlist size, concurrency, and whether you need looping.
- More than 60 minutes and up to 120 minutes: Standard or a higher tier is needed.
- More than 120 minutes and up to 240 minutes: Premium, Ultra, or Events is needed.
- More than 240 minutes in one file: Castr’s published plan comparison does not list a plan that accepts a single file longer than four hours. If the content can be divided into multiple files, check the plan’s playlist count and storage limits; do not assume this makes one over-limit file acceptable.
- Continuous looping: Premium or higher is required according to Castr’s plan comparison.
The sources establish these feature differences, but not which plan is the best value for a particular workload. Check current prices and confirm your file formats and workflow with Castr before choosing.
