There is no single OBS bitrate that is stable on every Indian mobile broadband connection. Measure upload performance where and when you plan to stream, start conservatively, then run a representative test to YouTube and check both OBS’s dropped-frame counter and YouTube Live Control Room’s stream health. A plan’s advertised speed—or one speed-test result—does not prove that your connection can sustain a route to YouTube ingest.
What bitrate should you set?
Use OBS’s 75% of total upload speed as a starting heuristic for video bitrate, not as a guarantee or an India-specific benchmark. Your actual mobile connection can vary with location, time, signal, congestion and the route to YouTube. Test under conditions similar to the planned broadcast and leave room for that variation.
Then check whether the result fits YouTube’s published encoder guidance for your resolution, frame rate and codec. The table below shows YouTube’s listed minimum and recommended rates in Mbps. These are encoder settings, not measurements of Indian mobile broadband capacity.
| YouTube input | H.264 minimum / recommended | AV1 or H.265 minimum / recommended |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p30 | 5 / 14 Mbps | 4 / 10 Mbps |
| 1080p60 | 6 / 17 Mbps | 4 / 12 Mbps |
| 720p60 | 3 / 8 Mbps | 2 / 6 Mbps |
| 720p30 | 3 / 8 Mbps | 2 / 6 Mbps |
| 480p30 | 0.4 / 4 Mbps | 0.3 / 3 Mbps |
For example, YouTube lists H.264 at 1080p30 as 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended, while H.264 at 720p30 is 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended. If your stable upload cannot support a suitable rate with headroom, lower resolution or frame rate and test again rather than insisting on 1080p or 60 fps. YouTube’s live encoder settings page covers additional settings, including 1440p and 4K; check its current table because platform guidance can change.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
How to find a stable bitrate for your connection
- Measure at the streaming location and time. Run upload speed tests more than once if your connection fluctuates. YouTube recommends a speed test to assess upload bitrate, but a speed test alone does not confirm that the path to YouTube ingest will remain stable.
- Choose a realistic output. Decide your resolution, frame rate and encoder first. Compare the candidate against YouTube’s minimum and recommended rates for that combination. Use AV1 or H.265 figures only if your encoder and workflow support that codec.
- Set a conservative OBS video bitrate. Use 75% of measured total upload speed as an initial heuristic. Treat it as a starting point: if the chosen output settings cannot be sustained, step down resolution or frame rate and test again.
- Send a representative test stream. Include movement and audio like the real broadcast. Watch OBS’s network dropped-frame counter and YouTube Live Control Room’s stream-health messages. YouTube recommends testing before the live broadcast.
- Adjust based on the result. If OBS’s network dropped-frame counter rises, lower video bitrate first and repeat the test. A stream that is stable for a brief, quiet test may still fail during a longer or busier session.
OBS settings and network checks when frames drop
OBS defines dropped frames as a connection to the remote server that is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate; its guidance says the software itself is extremely unlikely to be the cause. Check these settings and conditions if the counter rises:
- Rate control and keyframes: YouTube recommends CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval; do not exceed 4 seconds. It recommends RTMPS.
- Bitrate: Lower the video bitrate and test again. If that stabilizes the connection, consider a lower resolution or frame rate that better matches your sustainable upload.
- Ingest server and address binding: Try another ingest server if one is offered, and check that OBS’s “Bind to IP” setting is “Default.”
- Protocol tests: OBS suggests testing IPv4-only and reverting if it makes no difference. On Windows, its guide also discusses testing network optimizations and TCP pacing.
- Dynamic bitrate: OBS can lower bitrate when the connection falters, which may reduce drops but can also reduce image quality. OBS cautions that this does not fix the underlying connection problem.
- Local network and software: Check VPNs, firewall or security software, network-prioritization or optimization utilities, network drivers, router or modem, and cables. If the computer connects to a router over Wi-Fi, try wired Ethernet: OBS recommends a wired connection because Wi-Fi may be unstable. Ethernet does not improve a weak cellular uplink, carrier congestion or a poor route.
- Carrier or ISP path: If OBS’s checks do not resolve the problem, contact your internet provider. A different time, location or connection may behave differently; no bitrate setting can guarantee a stable route on every mobile network.
OBS dropped frames or viewers buffering?
These are different symptoms. If OBS’s dropped-frame counter rises, the creator’s connection to the ingest server is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate; follow the network checks above. If OBS shows no dropped frames but some viewers report buffering, the issue may be on their side: viewers use different devices, locations and internet connections. OBS notes that a lower bitrate or quality can help reach more viewers, while YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Copyright and YouTube live eligibility
A stable bitrate does not make a broadcast eligible to stream or safe to publish. Use content you have rights to stream, including game audio, music and other media, and check YouTube’s current copyright safety checklist before going live. YouTube’s policies and account-specific live-stream eligibility can affect whether you can broadcast; check YouTube Studio if the live option is unavailable. Network troubleshooting cannot resolve a copyright claim or an account restriction.
