How to Schedule Hindi Podcast Reruns on YouTube Live with OBS

A practical guide to scheduling a Hindi podcast rerun as a YouTube Live event, connecting OBS, choosing stable settings, and checking the stream before it starts.

Schedule the YouTube Live event in YouTube Studio, then connect OBS to that event with its stream URL and key. At the scheduled time, start OBS with your prerecorded Hindi podcast loaded and confirm the preview and stream health in YouTube’s Live Control Room. Scheduling creates an upcoming event page; it does not, by itself, start OBS or trigger playback of a local recording.

Before you schedule the rerun

  • Your channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. YouTube limits live streaming to people aged 16 or older. Check current eligibility in YouTube’s encoder-stream instructions.
  • Have the finished podcast recording available on the computer running OBS, and make sure you can monitor its audio. A stable connection matters: a Hindi podcast can remain understandable at modest video resolution, but interruptions or incorrectly routed audio can make the rerun unusable.
  • Choose an event time that gives you time to test the recording and encoder beforehand. YouTube recommends setting up an encoder stream in advance and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the event; this does not mean the public event must begin early.

Schedule the YouTube Live event

  1. Open YouTube Studio and select Create > Go Live > Manage > Schedule stream.
  2. Create a new stream or choose Reuse settings if you want to carry over settings from a previous event. Confirm the title, description, visibility, thumbnail, and scheduled start time for this episode.
  3. Save the scheduled stream. YouTube provides an upcoming watch page that you can share; viewers may choose Notify me. YouTube describes scheduling as a way to promote the stream, not as a command that starts your encoder or recording.
  4. In the event’s Live Control Room, find the stream URL and stream key for the scheduled event. Use the event’s details rather than assuming an old key or reused setup is the one OBS should send to.

For current scheduling and event-setting details, see Manage live stream settings and Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Connect OBS and prepare the podcast recording

  1. In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Select YouTube as the service if available, or choose a custom streaming service and enter the event’s stream URL and stream key as appropriate to your OBS version and connection method.
  2. Treat the stream key as a password. YouTube says, “Stream keys are like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Do not publish or share it. If you believe it has been exposed, an owner or manager can reset it in Live Control Room; replace the saved key in OBS before streaming again. See YouTube’s stream-key guidance.
  3. Load the prerecorded episode into the OBS playback setup you use, such as a media source or another established playback workflow. Confirm the source is visible if the episode includes video, and that its audio reaches the OBS audio mix. Play a section and listen on the monitoring output rather than relying only on the meters.
  4. Decide how playback should behave when the file ends. For a single rerun, avoid unintentionally looping the file unless you want the episode to repeat during the event. YouTube scheduling does not document a native trigger for starting a local OBS media file; any separate automation that starts playback needs its own testing.

Choose stable encoder settings

For a podcast rerun, pick a supported resolution and frame rate that your computer and upload connection can sustain. Do not choose a bitrate without accounting for the target resolution, frame rate, codec, and available upload bandwidth. YouTube’s current tables list supported combinations and recommended bitrates; check the table for the format you actually select in Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

  • Protocol: YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingest.
  • Video format for RTMP/RTMPS: H.264.
  • Audio: AAC or MP3.
  • Rate control: constant bitrate encoding.
  • Keyframes: use a 2-second interval; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
  • Upload capacity: YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom above the stream’s bitrate. Measure the connection you will use for the event rather than relying on its advertised maximum.

These are platform recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular computer or connection will hold a stream. Test the same recording path and similar audio and motion before the scheduled broadcast.

Test, start, and monitor the scheduled stream

  1. Before the event, start OBS and check that the recording plays, audio is audible and correctly routed, and the encoder reports a connection. Start the encoder early enough to address setup problems; YouTube recommends at least 15 minutes before the event for encoder streams.
  2. Open the scheduled event in Live Control Room and wait for the preview. Confirm the picture and listen for clean, continuous audio before going live.
  3. At the intended time, use the Live Control Room’s go-live controls if the event requires confirmation, and verify that the public watch page is showing the stream. The OBS encoder and the scheduled event are separate parts of the workflow.
  4. Keep OBS, the recording source, and the network connection running while the episode is playing. Monitor YouTube’s stream-health messages as well as the audio and video in OBS.
  5. When the episode is finished, end the stream from the appropriate controls and check the archive. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived.

YouTube’s preflight and bandwidth advice is collected in Streaming tips.

Troubleshoot common rerun problems

Symptom Likely cause What to check or do
The scheduled page exists, but no podcast starts Scheduling creates the event page; it does not establish that OBS or local playback will start automatically. Start OBS and the media source yourself at the planned time, or test any separate playback automation before relying on it.
Live Control Room shows no preview OBS may not be sending, or the event URL/key may be wrong. Check that OBS is streaming, then verify its stream URL and key against the scheduled event. Reset an exposed key and update OBS.
Video is present but the podcast is silent The media source audio may not be routed into the OBS mix, or the wrong monitoring/output path may be selected. Play a sample before the event, watch the audio meters, and listen through the monitoring output. Verify the source and output routing.
Stream health reports instability or the stream drops The upload connection may not sustain the chosen bitrate, or the computer/network may be interrupted. Check stream health, reduce the selected video settings to a supported bitrate that fits the measured connection, and preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% bandwidth headroom.
The episode repeats or ends earlier than intended The playback source may be set to loop, or the source may have stopped at the end of the file. Test the full playback behavior beforehand and set looping deliberately for the event’s intended duration.

Copyright and the integrity of a rerun

Only stream a recording and its included music, clips, and other material when you have the necessary rights or permissions. Scheduling and encoder settings do not grant those rights. Review YouTube’s applicable policies for the content and channel before making a rerun public; this workflow does not guarantee that a recording will avoid a copyright claim or other platform action.
