How to Build a 24/7 Bhojpuri Music YouTube Channel with FFmpeg

A practical guide to rights, YouTube setup, FFmpeg output settings, playlist testing, monitoring, and recovery for a continuous Bhojpuri music livestream.

You can run a continuous Bhojpuri music livestream by clearing the rights to every track, setting up a YouTube broadcast, and sending a steady audio/video feed from FFmpeg to YouTube over RTMPS. The computer running FFmpeg must stay powered and connected for the stream to continue; plan for monitoring and recovery as well as encoding settings.

Clear the music rights before you build the stream

Do not assume that owning a song file, subscribing to a music service, or crediting the artist gives you permission to livestream it. A recording and the underlying composition involve distinct rights. Confirm with the relevant rights holders that your permission covers livestreaming on YouTube, the territories where the stream will be available, and the intended duration. The exact permissions depend on the tracks, rights holders, and applicable jurisdiction; no blanket clearance for Bhojpuri music can be assumed.

  • Keep written permission or licence records for each track, including the covered recording and composition, platform use, territory, and term.
  • Ask the label, distributor, or other relevant owner whether the exact YouTube channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube warns that licensed material can still interrupt a stream if the channel has not been allowlisted when required. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
  • Keep a replacement set of tracks whose rights are documented, so you can remove a flagged track without filling the playlist with unreviewed music.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can result in a warning and placeholder image; continued use can lead to a temporary interruption or termination, and a copyright strike can also terminate a stream. A clean test does not guarantee that a track will remain cleared in a later broadcast.

Prepare the YouTube channel and broadcast

  1. Verify the channel early. YouTube for Artists advises verifying the account at least 24 hours before going live. Check the channel’s live-stream eligibility and complete any required setup before scheduling the launch. See YouTube for Artists’ live-stream guidance.
  2. Create or schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio. The broadcast is the event or programme listing; the stream is the encoded media feed sent to YouTube. Give the broadcast a clear title and description, choose its visibility, and check that you are managing the intended broadcast before connecting FFmpeg.
  3. Copy the current ingest details from YouTube Live Control Room. You need the ingest server address and stream key associated with the broadcast or stream configuration. Use the current values shown in YouTube; do not publish the key in a public command, screenshot, log, or tutorial. Treat it as a credential.
  4. Choose an RTMPS ingest option supported by your FFmpeg build. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder ingest. Confirm the protocol and server address shown in Live Control Room rather than relying on an old saved configuration. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.

Choose a stable FFmpeg output profile

For a music stream with static artwork or modest motion, 720p30 or 1080p30 is a practical starting point. Choose the lower rate if it gives your internet connection more reliable headroom; choose 1080p when the artwork or motion benefits from the added detail and the connection can sustain it. These are starting-point recommendations, not a requirement to use a particular resolution.

Output profile H.264 video rate Audio starting point When it may fit
720p30 3 Mbps minimum; 4 Mbps recommended by YouTube Stereo, 44.1 kHz, 128 kbps recommended Static cover art or simple visualisation; more forgiving of limited upload headroom.
1080p30 5 Mbps minimum; 10 Mbps recommended by YouTube Stereo, 44.1 kHz, 128 kbps recommended Artwork or motion where greater image detail is useful, provided the connection can sustain the higher rate.

The rates above are YouTube’s H.264 encoder recommendations; leave additional capacity for normal network variation rather than operating at the full measured upload rate. Configure constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube recommends two seconds and sets four seconds as the maximum. YouTube’s documented ingest settings also include support for H.264, H.265, or AV1 video and AAC or MP3 audio, but use only formats your installed FFmpeg build and chosen delivery workflow support.

Build the FFmpeg workflow around a continuous feed

The essential pipeline is: select the cleared audio and visual material, encode it to a YouTube-compatible feed, and deliver that feed to the current YouTube ingest address. FFmpeg can do the encoding, but a successful encoder process is not the same thing as a fully managed 24/7 channel.

  1. Organise and audit the media. Make a playlist from tracks with documented live-stream permissions. Check that each audio file plays through, that artwork or video assets have the intended duration, and that a transition between items will not expose an unintended blank or unlicensed clip.
  2. Choose a playlist and looping method for your FFmpeg version. FFmpeg options and playlist handling depend on the input formats and the installed build. Validate the precise loop, concat, or playlist approach against the documentation for your FFmpeg version; do not assume a command copied from another setup will loop mixed files correctly. The sources available for this guide do not establish a current, tested universal loop command.
  3. Set the output profile. Configure the selected resolution and frame rate, H.264 video rate if using H.264, CBR, two-second keyframes, and stereo audio at the chosen sample rate and bitrate. Match the encoder’s output to the ingest requirements rather than assuming the source files’ formats are accepted as-is.
  4. Send the feed to YouTube with the current ingest details. Put the stream key in a protected configuration or secret-handling method suitable for your environment. Avoid exposing it in publicly shared scripts, terminal captures, or logs. Do not reuse stale ingest details without checking Live Control Room.
  5. Test the complete playlist behaviour before launch. Confirm that FFmpeg reads the files in the intended order, reaches the end of the list, starts the next cycle without gaps or errors, and produces continuous audio and video at the selected profile. Test the exact command and playlist format on the same FFmpeg build and host you will use in production.

A loop is only one part of reliability. A continuous broadcast requires a continuing encoder feed, and the machine running FFmpeg must remain powered, online, and able to reach YouTube. Add a separate process supervisor or service manager only after validating how it handles FFmpeg exit codes, restarts, and duplicate processes on your operating system. No hosting specification or universal restart policy is established here, so size and configure a self-hosted machine or hosted server for your own workload and test recovery rather than assuming a particular uptime.

Understand the broadcast and the encoder as separate parts

YouTube’s Live API distinguishes the broadcast event from the stream carrying the media. That distinction matters in a long-running setup: a broadcast can continue while transmission from the encoder stops. If FFmpeg exits or loses its connection, inspect both the encoder process and the broadcast state in YouTube’s tools before restarting or creating another event. Avoid automating broadcast state transitions without checking the current API documentation and validating the exact sequence for your workflow. See Google’s explanation of broadcasts and streams.

Preflight and monitor the livestream

  • Test with representative media. Use audio levels, file formats, artwork, and motion similar to the final playlist; a test with a silent still image will not catch problems in the real programme.
  • Watch Live Control Room. Check stream health and on-screen messages as the encoder connects and while the test is running. Address warnings before the public launch.
  • Check the whole playback chain. Listen for clipping, silence, abrupt transitions, and channel imbalance; confirm the picture is present and that the broadcast is not showing a placeholder.
  • Keep a recovery plan. Know how to stop a stuck FFmpeg process, restore the intended playlist position, reconnect using the current ingest details, and check the broadcast state before sending another feed.
  • Recheck music clearance during maintenance. If a track is flagged or rights change, take it out of rotation and use the documented replacement playlist. Do not treat a successful first stream as ongoing clearance.

Troubleshoot common failures

Symptom Likely area to check Practical response
YouTube does not receive a stream Ingest address, current stream key, broadcast selection, network access, or FFmpeg output protocol. Compare the ingest details with the current Live Control Room values, confirm you selected the intended broadcast, and inspect the FFmpeg error output without sharing any secret key.
Stream health reports instability or viewers see buffering Upload capacity, variable network conditions, encoder load, or an output rate too close to the connection’s limit. Check the encoder and Live Control Room health information. If the connection cannot sustain the selected profile, lower the video rate or resolution and run another representative test.
Audio is silent, distorted, or missing in parts Input file decoding, audio stream selection, channel layout, levels, or playlist transitions. Play the affected files locally, inspect the audio configuration, and test transitions across the complete playlist before restoring the public feed.
The playlist stops at the end or skips files Loop or playlist handling for the particular file formats and FFmpeg build. Reproduce the issue with the exact production build and a small test playlist, then verify the chosen playlist method against that version’s documentation. Do not rely on an untested generic loop command.
YouTube shows a warning or placeholder image Content ID match or a rights-holder restriction. Follow the notice in Live Control Room, stop or replace the flagged material as appropriate, and contact the rights holder about channel allowlisting if the content is licensed. YouTube explains potential live-stream actions in its copyright guidance.
The broadcast remains listed but the media feed has stopped FFmpeg process failure, host/network interruption, or a mismatch between broadcast state and stream transmission. Check the encoder host and process first, then inspect the broadcast and stream status in YouTube before reconnecting. The broadcast event and media feed are separate resources.
