Watching a bhajan YouTube stream continuously for a 30-day month uses about 324 decimal GB for every sustained 1 Mbps of delivered playback bitrate. For example, that is about 648 GB at 2 Mbps or 972 GB at 3 Mbps. These are calculations, not measured data use for a particular stream; YouTube may deliver different playback renditions to different viewers.
Estimate monthly data from the playback bitrate
A 30-day month contains 720 hours. At 1 Mbps, continuous playback transfers 324,000 megabytes using decimal units, or 324 GB. Multiply the average bitrate in Mbps by 324 to estimate the data used over that period.

These are illustrative calculations, not claims that YouTube serves a bhajan stream at any particular bitrate. The formula is: monthly decimal GB ≈ average playback bitrate (Mbps) × 10.8 × number of days. For a 30-day month, that is bitrate × 324. If you watch fewer than 24 hours a day, scale the estimate by the share of the month you actually watch.
Why the actual data use can differ
YouTube chooses a playback rendition
The creator’s encoder settings do not necessarily match the data rate your device receives. YouTube says it transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for viewers. The delivered rendition and selected playback quality are therefore more useful to your data estimate than the creator’s incoming bitrate. Creator settings are not a viewer data-use table
YouTube’s recommended encoder bitrates vary by resolution, frame rate, and codec. For example, its H.264 recommendations include 4 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 3 Mbps for 480p at 30 fps. Those figures describe recommended creator-side input settings; they do not guarantee that a viewer downloads at those exact rates.
Viewing time, measurement units, and billing
- The estimates assume playback all day, every day, for 30 days. Pausing or watching for fewer hours reduces use in proportion to time.
- The calculations use decimal units: 1 GB equals 1,000,000,000 bytes. A provider may display data using different units or round totals, so its counter may not match exactly.
- Playback data can vary during the month as quality, delivered rendition, and viewing conditions change.
How to get a closer estimate for your own connection
- Use the actual playback quality setting or delivered bitrate if you can determine it for the device and stream you watch.
- Multiply the average bitrate in Mbps by 10.8 and then by the number of days watched. This estimates decimal GB; include only the hours you actually watch by scaling the result accordingly.
- Alternatively, compare your device’s or internet provider’s data counter before and after a known viewing interval, then use that observed rate to project a month. Allow for other devices and background traffic if the counter covers the whole connection.
