Turn on shuffle or random-track selection to vary the order, then add a track-history separation rule if you need a meaningful gap before a song can play again. Shuffle alone changes the sequence; it does not guarantee that every song plays once before any song repeats.
Choose the right kind of repeat control
These controls solve different problems. Check which ones your playlist or radio-automation system actually offers:
- Shuffle or random selection: changes the order of tracks, but is not a strict no-repeat guarantee. The playout.video guide says its playlists reshuffle at the end of each loop; that behavior is specific to that service. Read the playout.video playlist guide.
- Track separation: uses play history to keep the same recording out of rotation for a chosen period or number of intervening tracks. CloudRadio documents this as track repeat protection. See CloudRadio automation documentation.
- Artist and album separation: prevents tracks by the same artist or from the same album from playing too close together. These are separate rules from track separation and depend on accurate metadata and a sufficiently large eligible library. See CloudRadio separation rules.
- Weighted or category rotation: chooses which playlist or category supplies a track, optionally at different proportions. Some systems also filter for tracks not played recently. See Streaming.Center’s rotation guide.
- Scheduled playlists or dayparts: switch to a planned selection at recurring times, such as morning and evening, while a general rotation fills the remaining hours.
Before choosing software, establish whether it only selects the next track or also delivers the continuous live stream. Those are separate jobs; a rotation feature does not by itself keep a YouTube broadcast connected.
Set up a less repetitive aarti rotation
1. Build a broad, rights-cleared library
Use recordings you are permitted to stream, and include enough distinct tracks for the repeat gap you want. Check that each file is identified correctly in the system’s library. Accurate track, artist, and album tags matter especially if you plan to use artist or album separation.

2. Turn on shuffle or random-track selection
Enable the relevant option in your playlist or automation settings. If the system shuffles only when a playlist reaches its end, a short playlist can still cycle through the same small set frequently. A longer playlist gives the system more material to vary; it does not create a formal no-repeat guarantee unless the platform explicitly documents one.
3. Add a track-history window
If the system supports track separation, configure it after enabling random selection. Choose a window suited to the size of the library and how often tracks play. A longer window can reduce quick repeats, but it also leaves fewer eligible tracks at any moment. CloudRadio documents track, artist, and album windows, and says its system can relax restrictions when the library cannot meet them. CloudRadio’s documentation mentions 120 to 180 minutes as a common track-repeat setting. Treat that as the vendor’s guidance, not a verified industry standard or a universal setting for every library.
4. Add artist or album separation only when the library can support it
These rules can make a rotation feel less clustered, but they need enough eligible alternatives. If several recordings share an artist or album, or the tags are missing or inconsistent, the system may not be able to honor the intended spacing. Start with track separation, confirm the library’s metadata, then add artist or album rules and watch the log for fallback behavior.

5. Divide the library into useful pools
Create playlists that reflect real programming needs—for example, separate selections for different aarti traditions or times of day. Use weighted rotation if you want one pool to contribute more often than another. Streaming.Center describes weighted, sequential, and clock rotations, including random-track selection with a “not played recently” filter; exact options and labels depend on the system. 6. Schedule time-specific selections
For distinct morning and evening programming, use recurring scheduled playlists or dayparts if your system supports them. Let the general rotation handle the hours outside those scheduled blocks. Avoid scheduling a fixed sequence of specific songs to repeat if your goal is a less predictable order. 7. Verify what listeners actually hear
Listen to the live output and review the now-playing history or playout log. Confirm that tracks vary, the repeat window is behaving as expected, and scheduled blocks start at the intended times. A configured rule is not proof that the system can meet it when too few eligible recordings are available.

Shuffle, history windows, and schedules control selection and order; they do not grant permission to use the recordings. Rights can depend on the recording, visual material, territory, platform, and intended use. Verify permissions for the specific content and stream.
