To keep cricket gameplay appearing on YouTube around the clock, build a repeatable broadcast schedule: capture a cricket game, encode it with OBS or another encoder, schedule bounded live sessions in YouTube Studio, and monitor each session so someone can recover it if it stops. YouTube does not promise one perpetual, uninterrupted broadcast; for replay preservation, its guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Before streaming, confirm your channel’s live access and check the game publisher’s rules, especially if you hope to monetize.
What “continuous” means on YouTube
Treat continuous as a programming plan made of recurring live sessions, not a guarantee that one broadcast will run forever. Schedule blocks, assign someone to watch stream health and chat, and decide how a session will be restarted after an interruption. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its guidance does not establish reliable automatic archiving for longer streams. If preserving replays matters, use separate sessions shorter than 12 hours.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel eligible to go live. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; the minimum age to live stream is 16. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- A cricket game and a PC or console capable of running it. As one PC example, Cricket 24 is a sports simulation by Big Ant Studios, published by Nacon, and its Steam listing gives minimum requirements including Windows 10/11, 8 GB RAM, an entry-level listed GPU, broadband and 60 GB of storage. These are storefront minimums, not a guarantee that the computer can play and encode at your desired quality simultaneously. - An encoder for PC capture, such as OBS. YouTube lists OBS among software encoders, and describes it as open-source and free. You do not need a paid encoder simply to start an individual gameplay stream. For a console, built-in streaming can be simpler; a capture card is relevant only if routing console video through a PC for encoding.
- A stable wired or wireless internet connection with sustained upload capacity, plus a microphone if you plan to commentate. A headset microphone is optional, not a YouTube requirement.
Check game rights and YouTube rules first
Do not assume that owning a game grants permission for every kind of broadcast or commercial use. YouTube says monetization of gameplay depends on the publisher’s commercial-use rights. It also warns: “Videos simply showing a user playing a video game or the use of software for extended periods of time may not be accepted for monetization.” Commentary that explains tactics, controls, match situations or decisions can add instructional or educational value, but it does not guarantee monetization or replace publisher permission. Live broadcasts are scanned for third-party matches, including another live broadcast. YouTube may replace the image, interrupt or terminate a stream when a match is identified. Avoid rebroadcasting television or tournament footage and avoid music you do not have rights to use. India’s legal and regulatory context should not be reduced to a blanket conclusion about a game from the fact that it is streamed. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s PIB summary of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2026 discusses classification factors for online money games, including fees or stakes, expected winnings, revenue structure and redemption or external monetization of rewards. That summary alone does not determine a particular game’s status or the legal treatment of each in-game feature. India’s Copyright Act defines communication to the public broadly; that statutory context is not a case-specific ruling that a particular gameplay broadcast is permitted. Set up a PC cricket gameplay stream with OBS
- Activate live access. In YouTube Studio, start the live-stream setup and complete channel verification if prompted. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation; do not leave scheduling until the match is about to begin.
- Create a broadcast in YouTube Studio. Open Create > Go live, then create or schedule a stream. Choose a clear title and description that identify the game and whether the broadcast is commentary-led. Set visibility, category and start time deliberately; confirm the planned session duration leaves room for an orderly end and replay processing.
- Install OBS and create a scene. Add a Game Capture source for the cricket game where supported, or Window Capture/Display Capture if needed. Add the game’s audio and, if used, a microphone input. Arrange a readable layout and test that gameplay and voice levels are balanced. Do not show private information, notifications or the stream key in the capture.
- Copy the connection details privately. In the YouTube stream setup, copy the server URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. Keep the key secret: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your channel. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Set encoder output and test. Prefer RTMPS. Use H.264 with constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval. Start with a bitrate appropriate to your resolution and sustained upload, then run a private or unlisted test and inspect YouTube’s preview before going public. YouTube’s recommendations are technical starting points, not a guarantee of stable last-mile service in every Indian location.
- Go live and monitor. Wait for the encoder preview in YouTube Studio, check picture, game sound, microphone, chat and stream health, then start the broadcast. Keep Studio open or have a second operator watch it. At the end of a scheduled block, end the stream cleanly and prepare the next session rather than assuming an automatic restart.

Leave headroom for network variation rather than setting the bitrate at the full result of a brief speed test. If viewers report buffering or OBS reports dropped frames, lower bitrate, resolution or frame rate and test again. If the encoder reports rendering or encoding lag, reduce graphics load or output settings; upload capacity alone cannot fix a computer that cannot encode smoothly.
Make the schedule genuinely repeatable
Choose session lengths and archive handling
For streams you want saved as replays, schedule separate sessions under 12 hours, the duration for which YouTube documents automatic archiving. Prepare a restart checklist with the next session’s title, key, scene and operator assignment. Avoid relying on an undocumented expectation that a longer broadcast will archive or remain uninterrupted.

Choose horizontal, vertical or both for a reason
Horizontal streams support clickable links and live pre- and mid-roll ads. Vertical live streams can be discovered in the Shorts feed and support certain fan-funding features depending on eligibility, but have different feature trade-offs. Pick the format that suits your commentary, overlays and viewing experience; placement in a feed is not a promise of reach. Consult current YouTube live-stream format guidance before committing to a production layout.
Give viewers a reason to stay
Comment on decisions as they happen: explain field placements, shot selection, bowling changes, controls or match scenarios. This makes a stream more useful than hours of unexplained gameplay and gives chat a natural point of entry. Moderate chat during long sessions, and make sure any on-screen score or overlay is either part of the game capture or content you are authorized to use.

Troubleshooting common failures
- YouTube will not let the channel go live: check verification, recent live restrictions and age eligibility, then allow for the first-time activation period of up to 24 hours.
- The encoder connects but YouTube shows no preview: verify the selected server URL and stream key, confirm OBS is actively streaming, and check that the correct scene is selected. Reset an exposed key instead of continuing with it.
- Stream buffers or drops frames: distinguish network dropped frames from rendering/encoding lag in OBS. For network trouble, lower bitrate and test a more stable connection; for rendering/encoding trouble, reduce game or encoder load, resolution or frame rate.
- Audio is missing or unbalanced: verify the game and microphone sources are active in the selected scene, check the correct input device, and inspect levels in a test preview before a public session.
- Broadcast is interrupted for copyright: remove the suspected third-party audio or video and review the notice in Studio. Do not restart with the same unlicensed material; licensed content may still need the rightsholder’s Content ID allowlisting.
- The stream stops while nobody is at the computer: local OBS depends on the computer, encoder and connection remaining available. Assign monitoring and restart responsibility, or choose a cloud service designed to keep uploaded video streaming without a home computer.

Can I stream cricket gameplay from a console instead of a PC?
