Possibly—but YouTube’s published guidance does not expressly approve every 24/7 prerecorded setup, and it does not state a blanket ban either. A channel still needs to meet livestream eligibility, accurately identify child-directed content as made for kids, and have the rights to everything it broadcasts. The audience setting restricts features, and a stream longer than 12 hours may not be saved as a replay.
What YouTube’s guidance does—and does not—say
YouTube documents encoder-based livestreaming, but its published guidance does not specifically rule on every configuration that continuously loops prerecorded video. That means a creator should not treat the absence of an express blanket prohibition as approval of a particular channel or stream. Streams remain subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. See YouTube’s livestream setup guidance and guidance on avoiding livestream restrictions.
Separate the practical questions: whether the channel can start a live broadcast, which features are available for made-for-kids content, whether a long stream is archived, and whether it is eligible for monetization. An answer to one does not guarantee an answer to the others.
Set the audience accurately
Creators must tell YouTube whether content is made for kids. YouTube says creators know their content best and may override an audience selection in cases of error or abuse. Do not choose a different audience setting just to retain chat, advertising, or other features. Review YouTube’s audience-setting guidance and select the designation that accurately reflects the content.

Channel-level and video-level settings
YouTube allows an audience selection at channel level or for individual videos. A channel-level choice affects existing and future content; individual-video settings are also available. Whichever approach you use, the made-for-kids restrictions apply to the relevant content. Check the setting before scheduling or starting the livestream.
Features that may be unavailable
YouTube lists live chat and live chat donations, personalized advertising, and other features as unavailable on individual made-for-kids videos or livestreams. A channel designated as made for kids also loses certain channel-wide features. Do not plan a child-directed live feed around chat or personalized ads being available.

Check eligibility and rights before going live
- Channel eligibility: YouTube says the channel must be verified and must have had no livestream restrictions in the past 90 days. Check YouTube’s live-streaming requirements before relying on a continuous broadcast.
- Rights to the feed: You need the necessary rights to every video and audio track in the loop. Prerecording or repeating material does not itself establish permission to livestream it. YouTube’s rules still apply to the content throughout the broadcast.
- Policy compliance: The feed remains subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. The fact that it is automated or intended for children does not create an exception.
Choose between one long stream and shorter sessions
A 24/7 feed and a complete replay are different things. YouTube’s archive guidance says: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” This is an archive warning, not a stated maximum livestream duration. The cited guidance does not say that a broadcast must stop at 12 hours. Read YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.

If preserving a full recording matters, keep a local recording rather than assuming the platform will save a 24-hour replay. Shorter sessions may make archiving more practical, but they mean ending and starting broadcasts rather than keeping one uninterrupted live session.

Ways to keep a prerecorded feed running
Use an encoder workflow
YouTube lists encoder streaming as one way to go live. An encoder may be software or dedicated hardware; YouTube’s guidance does not make dedicated hardware a requirement. Prepare the prerecorded material and use an encoder workflow supported by your setup, then monitor the broadcast and comply with YouTube’s audience and content rules. The specific encoder settings depend on the software or hardware you choose; the official material cited here does not establish settings for every device or a special configuration for made-for-kids 24/7 streams.

YouTube’s published guidance does not establish special monetization approval for 24/7 prerecorded livestreams. It does state that personalized advertising is unavailable for made-for-kids content. Do not assume that running continuously guarantees revenue, or that a live broadcast will produce a complete replay.
