Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →To run prerecorded video as a 24/7 YouTube livestream from an Intel NUC, keep the NUC powered on, use encoder software to play a continuous playlist, and send that encoder’s output to a YouTube Live event. You’ll need an eligible channel, a model capable of the chosen output, reliable upload bandwidth, and a plan to detect and recover from interruptions. The playlist loop and restart behavior depend on the software you choose, so test them before leaving the stream unattended.
What you need before setting up the stream
- An Intel NUC with its exact model or product code identified. Hardware capabilities vary by model and configuration.
- A YouTube channel eligible for live streaming, with live streaming enabled.
- Encoder software on the NUC that can send a live feed to YouTube and play the prerecorded files continuously.
- A stable internet connection with enough outbound upload capacity for the stream.
- A plan for monitoring the stream, handling failures, and recording the video separately if you need a complete archive.
Check YouTube live-stream eligibility
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours, so complete this check before scheduling a launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility instructions.
Check your specific NUC’s capabilities
There is no safe blanket resolution or codec recommendation for every Intel NUC. Find the device’s product code and check its official technical specifications against the resolution, frame rate, and encoding format you intend to use. Codec capabilities depend on the processor and system configuration; Intel Quick Sync is hardware-assisted encoding and decoding, but it requires supported processor graphics to be enabled. Intel’s documentation describes capabilities, not a guarantee that every assembled mini PC exposes them.
Intel’s Quick Sync overview is available in its Quick Sync Video documentation. No NUC-specific performance benchmark is established here, so do not assume a device can sustain a particular output without testing it.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Configure the prerecorded video as a continuous source
Install an encoder on the NUC and configure it to play the files or playlist you want to broadcast. The exact loop or scheduling controls vary by encoder and operating system; this guide does not claim a verified OBS recipe. Before going live, confirm that the selected software behaves as intended in your own setup.
- Check that playback loops or advances to the next file when the current file ends.
- Watch transitions between files for gaps, unexpected pauses, or abrupt changes in audio.
- Check aspect ratio and audio levels across the full playlist, not just the first clip.
- Find out whether the encoder resumes after a source or application failure, and how you will notice if it does not.
YouTube supports both software and hardware encoders. Its encoder setup instructions explain how to connect an encoder using a server URL and stream key.
Create the YouTube Live event and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream.
- Copy the event’s server URL and stream key into the matching fields in your encoder. The exact field labels depend on the software.
- Use RTMPS where your encoder supports it. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP over TLS/SSL and explains how to retrieve its URL and key in its RTMPS setup guide.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Keep it private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send content to your stream. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder.
- Start sending the feed from the encoder, then check YouTube’s Live Control Room preview before relying on the event.
Choose output settings and test the feed
Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance to choose resolution and bitrate for the specific NUC and connection. Its recommendations include constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (not over four seconds), H.264, H.265, or AV1 video where supported, and AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP(S). Availability depends on both the encoder and ingest protocol, so use settings your whole setup supports rather than assuming every format will work.

Check YouTube’s live encoder settings for the current bitrate guidance. YouTube recommends keeping 20% spare upload capacity above the total stream bitrate. This is platform guidance, not a measured reliability guarantee. Measure outbound upload capacity rather than relying on download speed alone, and account for other devices or activity sharing the connection.

Before launch, use Live Control Room’s preview to check picture and sound, then verify the event can be opened from the channel or watch page as intended. YouTube recommends testing the setup and monitoring audio and video quality; its streaming tips cover these checks.
Plan for unattended operation and interruptions
A continuous stream needs more than a successful initial connection. YouTube warns that network disruption can break a stream. Decide who or what will detect an outage, whether the encoder restarts after an application or network failure, and how the playlist resumes after recovery. Test those behaviors before treating the setup as unattended; they depend on your encoder and local configuration.

An Ethernet connection and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) are optional practical choices for a fixed installation, not YouTube requirements. They can address local network and power interruptions, but they do not replace a recovery and monitoring plan.
Do not rely on YouTube for a complete archive over 24 hours
YouTube automatically archives streams shorter than 12 hours. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured, so a 24/7 broadcast should not be treated as a guaranteed complete YouTube recording. If you need an archive, configure a separate recording workflow and check available storage and file growth before leaving it running.

The AJA HELO Plus is a separate hardware option. YouTube’s encoder list says its PlayToStream functionality can schedule prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live without a computer. The available information does not establish a current price or an independent reliability comparison. Compare purchase and operating costs, setup complexity, local control, playlist and scheduling needs, and how you will monitor or recover a stream.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I run the stream if my NUC goes to sleep?
No. The NUC-based method depends on the device and encoder staying active; configure power settings to prevent sleep during operation.
Does a 24/7 YouTube stream guarantee a full replay afterward?
No. YouTube may not capture streams longer than 12 hours, so use a separate recording workflow when a complete archive matters.
