Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo avoid silence between podcast episodes on an always-on YouTube stream, configure continuous playback in the source feeding your encoder. In OBS, use a Media Source with Loop for one repeating episode, or a VLC Video playlist with Loop Playlist for a sequence. YouTube’s watch page does not control those transitions, and OBS does not promise gapless playback between separate files—test your actual episode sequence before relying on it live.
Choose the right OBS playback source
The playback source determines what happens when an episode ends. Set up the files and their order in OBS before connecting the broadcast.
| Use case | OBS source | Setting | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Repeat one episode | Media Source | Enable Loop | OBS defines this as playing the file again after it finishes. |
| Play several episodes in order | VLC Video | Add files to a playlist, leave Shuffle Playlist off, and enable Loop Playlist | VLC must be installed; OBS requires 64-bit VLC when using 64-bit OBS. |
OBS Media Source supports common audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV, along with common video formats. For the current source controls and supported media details, see OBS Project’s Media Sources documentation.
Set up a single repeating episode
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene that will feed your stream.
- Select the local episode file and confirm that it plays correctly in the source.
- Enable Loop if you want that episode to begin again automatically after playback ends.
- Check the end of the episode and its restart in the OBS output. This approach repeats the same recording; use a playlist if you need multiple episodes.
Set up an ordered episode playlist
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. If OBS is 64-bit, install 64-bit VLC so the VLC source is available.
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source and add the episode files in the order you want them to play.
- Leave Shuffle Playlist off to preserve that order.
- Enable Loop Playlist to restart playback after the last item. OBS documents this option as on by default, but check the setting rather than assuming it is enabled.
- Play through the episode boundaries in the output you plan to stream. Listen for pauses, clipped openings, or other unwanted transitions.
Test the boundaries; a playlist is not a gapless guarantee
Looping and playlist controls keep playback moving through files, but OBS’s documentation does not promise gapless or crossfaded transitions between separate files. A pause can come from the media itself or the playback chain. Inspect how each episode ends and starts, and test the actual files together before going live. Do not expect a YouTube ingestion-protocol change to make a playlist gapless.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
HLS is an optional ingestion protocol for compatible encoders, not a fix for pauses between items in the source playlist. YouTube documents HLS delivery requirements—including TS segments of one to four seconds, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and HTTPS POST/PUT—and notes that HLS has higher latency than RTMP. See YouTube’s HLS setup requirements if your encoder uses that protocol.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream into the corresponding encoder fields in OBS.
- Confirm that OBS is sending the intended scene and that the episode source is playing, then start the broadcast from the encoder and check the live output.
YouTube says scheduling a stream lets you promote it and gives viewers the option to set reminders. Follow the current steps in YouTube Help’s encoder setup guide.

Plan for long broadcasts and replays
YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If your always-on run may exceed 12 hours, do not assume the entire run will become one automatic archive; plan your stream segmentation and replay needs accordingly. The 12-hour figure is YouTube’s stated archive threshold, not a guarantee about longer broadcasts.
Troubleshoot silence between episodes
- The next episode never starts: Check that the files are all in the VLC Video playlist and that Loop Playlist is enabled if the issue occurs after the final item.
- Episodes play in an unexpected order: Turn off Shuffle Playlist and review the order of files in the playlist.
- The source is missing in OBS: Install VLC, matching OBS’s architecture; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC for the VLC Video source.
- A short pause remains at a file boundary: OBS does not document gapless or crossfaded transitions between separate files. Check the episode endings and beginnings and test the sequence in the intended output.
- The stream is live but the episodes are silent: Check that the source is playing and that the intended scene is being sent to the encoder; confirm the episode files themselves play correctly in the source.
- The replay does not cover the full long-running broadcast: Account for YouTube’s stated automatic archive threshold of streams under 12 hours when planning a longer run.
