To show a podcast schedule during a YouTube live, put the schedule in your encoder’s scene as an image or browser source. Scheduling the live event in YouTube Studio creates an upcoming event viewers can share or set a reminder for; it does not automatically put a timetable on the video.
Two separate jobs: schedule the event and show the timetable
First, schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio so viewers can find the upcoming event and share its watch URL. Then add the visual schedule to the scene in the software sending your video to YouTube. YouTube documents event scheduling and overlay composition as separate workflows; it does not document a podcast timetable that Studio generates automatically.
A schedule in the event title or description can tell viewers what is planned, but it is not an on-screen graphic. To display segment names and times over the live video, add a visual source in your encoder.
Schedule the YouTube live event
- In YouTube Studio, open Go Live, then choose Manage.
- Schedule a stream or choose an existing event. Check its visibility and event details before sharing it.
- Share the event’s watch URL if you want viewers to find the upcoming broadcast or opt for a reminder.
- In Live Control Room, get the stream URL and stream key for your encoder. Treat the stream key like a password; anyone who has it may be able to stream to your channel.
YouTube’s encoder guide describes scheduling as a way to promote a stream: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Add the podcast schedule to the encoder scene
Choose an image or browser source
For a fixed run of show, create a clean schedule graphic and add it as an image source. If the schedule needs to change during the broadcast, a browser source displaying a schedule page may be easier to update. That is a practical production choice, not a YouTube-prescribed widget or calendar integration.
YouTube’s overlay instructions use a Browser Source: copy the overlay URL, add it in the encoder, and set its dimensions to match the stream resolution. Encoder support varies, so check the documentation for your chosen software before relying on a browser source. See YouTube’s overlay guidance.

Build and position the schedule
- Write only the information viewers need at a glance: segment, start time, and—if useful—duration. Keep the text short enough to read without pausing the show.
- Add the schedule as an image or browser source in the scene used for the live broadcast.
- Size the source for your stream canvas. YouTube’s overlay instructions say to match the source dimensions to the stream resolution.
- Place it where it will not cover a host, captions, gameplay or other essential content. Preview it at a phone-sized viewing area as well as on your production monitor; readability checks and placement are practical advice, not YouTube requirements.
- If the run of show changes, update the graphic or browser page and verify the revised schedule in the encoder preview.
Static graphic or browser schedule?
| Option | Useful when | Trade-off to check |
|---|---|---|
| Image source | The schedule is settled before the show and will not need frequent changes. | Changes require replacing or editing the image; check that the text remains legible at mobile size. |
| Browser source | You need a web-based schedule that can be updated during production. | Confirm that your encoder supports browser sources and that the page displays correctly in its preview. YouTube cautions that encoder support varies. |
YouTube explains its general browser-source overlay workflow in overlay guidance for live streams; it does not evaluate particular schedule tools.
Test before the podcast starts
Do not wait until the scheduled start to discover that the schedule is cropped, unreadable or missing from the scene. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours beforehand and starting it at least 15 minutes before the event. Use the time to check the Live Control Room preview, confirm the event is accessible from channel and watch pages and mobile devices, and monitor audio and video quality. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance.

Troubleshoot common schedule-overlay problems
The schedule appears in the encoder but not in the live preview
Check that the source is in the scene being sent to YouTube and is visible. If it is a browser source, verify that your encoder supports it and that the source page loads in the encoder preview.
The schedule is cut off or difficult to read
Check the source dimensions against the stream canvas, then resize or reposition the schedule. Reduce wording and preview at a phone-sized viewing area; text that looks clear on a large production screen may be too small for viewers.

The event is scheduled, but viewers cannot see the timetable
Scheduling the event and adding an on-screen schedule are separate tasks. Add the graphic or browser source to the encoder scene; event metadata alone does not create an overlay.
The schedule is out of date
Update the image or the content shown in the browser source, then inspect the encoder preview before relying on the change during the show. A static image will need to be replaced or edited; a browser page can be updated at its source if your setup supports that workflow.
