How to Schedule Recorded UPSC Lectures in an Always-On YouTube Playlist from India

Scheduled uploads, playlist looping, and a 24/7 livestream are different YouTube workflows. Here’s how to choose and set up the right one for recorded UPSC lectures from India.

You can schedule each recorded UPSC lecture to become public at a chosen time, then collect the videos in a course playlist. That publishes lessons on a timetable; it does not make the playlist broadcast continuously. For a true always-on live watch page, you need an encoder-based livestream that sends the recorded lectures to YouTube. A viewer can also loop a playlist during playback, but that is a separate, viewer-controlled option.

Choose the outcome you mean by “always-on”

What you want Use What it does not do
Release lectures for students to watch on demand Schedule each video in YouTube Studio and add it to a course playlist. It does not create a continuous broadcast.
Let an individual student repeat the course sequence Turn on Loop in the playlist playback controls. It does not schedule playback for everyone or keep the channel live.
Show a live watch page continuously using recordings Schedule an encoder-based livestream and feed recorded material through the encoder. It requires an active feed and monitoring; long streams may not be archived.

Schedule recorded lectures to publish on a timetable

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Create → Upload videos.
  2. Upload the lecture and enter its title, description, thumbnail, and other details.
  3. In the upload workflow, add the lecture to the course playlist or create the playlist.
  4. In the Schedule card, choose the publication date, time, and time zone, then schedule the video. It remains private until the selected time.
  5. Repeat for each lecture. Keep the playlist order aligned with the course sequence, and verify each video’s visibility after it becomes public.

YouTube Help describes scheduled publishing as scheduling a private video to go public at a specific time. A Community Guidelines strike can prevent a scheduled video from publishing during the penalty period; the video stays private and must be rescheduled afterward. See YouTube’s Schedule video publish time and Upload YouTube videos — Computer guidance.

Account for India’s time zone and the displayed date

Select the intended local time zone when scheduling. YouTube bases the public watch-page date on Pacific Standard Time, so a date shown on the public page may differ from the date shown in Studio for a creator scheduling from a time zone ahead of PST. If a scheduled release is near midnight in India, check the public watch page around the boundary rather than assuming the displayed date will match the Studio date. YouTube documents this in Schedule video publish time.

Let a student loop the playlist during playback

To repeat a course sequence for one viewer, play a video from the playlist and switch on Loop in the playlist controls. YouTube’s Loop videos or playlists on YouTube instructions cover the playback control. Looping is controlled by the viewer; it does not schedule the playlist on your channel, create a live broadcast, or keep playback running on every student’s device.

Run a continuous live watch page with recorded lectures

A continuous YouTube live page is a separate broadcast workflow. Schedule a livestream in YouTube Studio, connect an encoder using the stream key, and send the recorded lecture feed through that encoder. YouTube’s Manage live stream settings and YouTube live streaming tips explain scheduled streams, encoder setup, and stream keys. A scheduled stream may appear to subscribers as upcoming, but it still needs an active encoder feed to be on air.

Protect your lecture archive

Keep the original lecture files independently of the livestream. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all; this is not a guarantee that every shorter stream will archive successfully. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. See YouTube Help on Archive live streams and Turn on DVR on live streams.

Keep the schedule sustainable and the playlist accurate

Choose a release cadence you can maintain and use Studio’s scheduling tools to plan it. YouTube recommends a consistent, sustainable release schedule. Make sure playlist titles and descriptions accurately describe the lectures; YouTube’s Playlists policy prohibits misleading playlist metadata and applies to harmful combinations of videos.

Common problems and what to check

  • A lecture did not publish at its scheduled time: Check whether a Community Guidelines strike is freezing scheduled publication. If the video remains private after the penalty period, reschedule it in Studio.
  • The public page shows a different date: Check the selected time zone and compare the schedule with the PST-based public date, especially for a release near midnight in India.
  • The playlist is not broadcasting continuously: Adding scheduled videos to a playlist does not create a livestream. Use the encoder-based workflow for a live watch page.
  • The livestream disconnects or has no picture: Check that the encoder is running and sending to the correct YouTube stream key, and review YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance. Keep source files in case a long stream is not captured.
  • A student cannot get the playlist to repeat: Loop is a playback control the viewer must enable while playing the playlist; it is not a channel-level schedule.
