One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor a 4K YouTube stream, start with H.264 at 30 Mbps for 30 fps or 35 Mbps for 60 fps, use constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, and keep the encoder, connection and playlist running reliably. A 24/7 broadcast is longer than YouTube’s 12-hour archive threshold, so keep an independent local recording if you need a complete replay. These are YouTube’s published settings and operational cautions, checked October 3, 2026—not a guarantee that a particular setup will sustain them.
Recommended 4K encoder settings
Use the frame rate of your source where practical. YouTube’s current encoder guide recommends these H.264 video bitrates for 2160p:
| Output | YouTube-recommended H.264 bitrate |
|---|---|
| 2160p at 30 fps | 30 Mbps |
| 2160p at 60 fps | 35 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s targets, not a promise that your encoder or network can sustain them. YouTube also lists AV1 and H.265/HEVC ingest ranges of 8–35 Mbps at 2160p30 and 10–40 Mbps at 2160p60. The codec-specific ranges and H.264 recommendations are distinct; use the figures for the codec you actually send. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
Settings to configure
- Rate control: CBR for H.264.
- Keyframes: two-second interval; do not exceed four seconds.
- Scan and pixels: progressive scan and square pixels.
- Color: Rec. 709 for SDR content.
- Audio: AAC when appropriate to your production.
- Protocol: RTMP or RTMPS; RTMPS is YouTube’s encrypted RTMP option. See YouTube’s RTMPS guidance.
Do not up-convert lower-frame-rate footage just to select 60 fps. A 4K ingest does not mean every viewer receives 4K: YouTube transcodes live input into formats for different devices and connections, and playback quality depends on the available rendition and viewer conditions.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Create the stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule an encoder stream in the Live Control Room. Configure the event and review its stream settings before broadcasting.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from the Live Control Room into the encoder or streaming service that will send your playlist. Treat the key like a password. If it is exposed, reset it in Studio.
- If you use “Reuse settings” from an earlier event, review the copied metadata, settings and key rather than assuming they are still right.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before starting the sustained broadcast. YouTube documents latency and DVR controls in its live stream settings guide.
Latency and DVR
YouTube says its low-latency improvement option is unavailable at 2160p, so expect normal latency for a 4K stream. DVR lets viewers pause or rewind the live broadcast and resume from where they paused. For a playlist with little audience interaction, low latency may not be a priority; choose DVR based on how you want viewers to watch.
Configure and verify the playlist loop
YouTube’s documented stream controls do not specify how a particular encoder or streaming service adds, orders or loops prerecorded files. Follow the documentation for the tool you choose, then test a complete file transition and loop before relying on unattended playback. Check that it handles the end of a playlist and resumes the intended item after an interruption; do not assume it will do so automatically.

Prepare the connection and monitor the broadcast
YouTube advises testing upload bandwidth, accounting for other people and traffic sharing the connection, and leaving 20% bandwidth room. Applying that margin to the 30 Mbps H.264 target for 4K30 means planning for at least 36 Mbps of usable upload capacity for the stream itself, before other traffic. That 36 Mbps figure is arithmetic from YouTube’s recommendation, not a separate YouTube-published bitrate target.
- Test the actual connection at the streaming location and time of day you expect to use.
- Use test footage with audio and motion similar to the real playlist; a static image alone may not reveal problems under representative conditions.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and alerts before going live, then monitor stream health, audio and video during operation.
- If you need an archive, confirm that your local recording is being written and remains intact. YouTube’s streaming tips and live stream tips cover testing, bandwidth and operational checks.
An unattended stream depends on more than the bitrate: the encoder or cloud service must stay active, the connection must remain usable, and the playlist source must keep playing. Test the full chain before treating it as continuous.

Plan a separate archive for a 24/7 stream
YouTube says it can automatically archive live streams shorter than 12 hours and automatically archives 1440p and 2160p streams. But it warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” A 24/7 stream exceeds that threshold, so do not rely on YouTube to preserve the complete broadcast as a replay. If the recording matters, arrange and test a local archive independently, with enough storage for the intended duration. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
Check rights and monetization separately
Copyright can interrupt a live stream
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including copyrighted material from another broadcast. If it identifies such material, it may show a placeholder and warn the channel; if the material remains, it may interrupt or terminate the stream. A broadcast can also be terminated following a copyright or Community Guidelines strike. If you have licensed third-party content, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist or the live stream may still be interrupted. Content ID claims on an archived live stream are made after the broadcast ends if you archive it. Review YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and make sure your permissions cover the content and use.

Permission does not guarantee monetization
YouTube’s channel monetization policy may make highly repetitive or mass-produced content with little educational, commentary, narrative or other value ineligible. Reused-content review is separate from copyright: owning or having permission to use footage does not by itself establish that a channel meets monetization policy. Conversely, originality concerns do not replace the need for rights clearance. These are channel-level policy considerations; a 24/7 schedule or playlist title cannot guarantee an outcome. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

If you do not want a home computer and connection to remain on, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the video from the cloud and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. Your computer does not have to stay on. Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60 fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers. The first day is free with no card, once per account. The Monthly price is $9.99 per month. Check the copyright safety checklist before streaming, since a cloud loop does not change YouTube’s rights or monetization policies. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
