You can set the screen to turn off separately. This is best-effort playback, not a guarantee that YouTube will run unattended all night: its “Continue watching?” prompt may pause autoplay.
Loop the playlist, not just autoplay
Playlist Loop repeats the playlist you chose. Autoplay is different: it selects another related video when the current one ends, so it may move beyond the playlist.
- Open YouTube on your PC and start a video that belongs to the playlist you want to play.
- Expand the playlist box beside the player.
- Select the playlist’s Loop control. YouTube says this repeats the playlist continuously. If you want only the current video repeated, use the single-video repeat behavior instead.

Keep Windows 11 awake while the playlist plays
- Open Start > Settings > System > Power & battery > Screen, sleep, & hibernate timeouts.
- Under the plugged-in options, set Make my device sleep after long enough for the session, or choose the available never-sleep option if you want the PC to stay awake.
- Set Turn my screen off after independently. A shorter screen timeout lets the display go dark without putting the PC to sleep.
Keep a laptop connected to its power adapter for an overnight session. If you plan to close its lid, check the lid action first: many laptops sleep when closed. For a straightforward setup, leave the lid open and let the display turn off. Windows settings and available choices can vary by device and Windows build. Microsoft’s current directions are in Power settings in Windows 11.

Test the setup and plan for interruptions
Run the playlist longer than a single video before relying on it. YouTube Help says the web “Continue watching?” prompt may appear after 60 minutes of uninterrupted watching with Autoplay on; the page does not state a publication year. If the prompt appears, playback may stop until someone responds. A Windows sleep setting does not disable this YouTube prompt. YouTube says it asks, “Continue watching?” to protect watch history and help avoid using data when someone is not watching. See Why YouTube asks, “Continue watching?”.
Use a saved playlist so you can resume
Use a saved playlist rather than relying on the temporary desktop queue if you may close the browser. YouTube says the queue does not save after the browser closes and recommends saving videos to a playlist to continue later. A saved playlist makes it easier to restart playback after the browser or PC has been closed. See YouTube’s desktop queue instructions.

Local playback is not a live broadcast
These steps play a YouTube playlist on your PC; they do not broadcast it as a live event to viewers. A public livestream is a different setup. YouTube says encoder livestreaming requires a verified channel without live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days. Its production guidance covers preparing and starting the encoder, previewing in Live Control Room, checking network capacity, and monitoring audio and video.
