Yes. Fox McCloud, the Star Fox character, appears in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. A promotional poster revealed his inclusion, and GamesRadar reports that Glen Powell voices him. Nintendo has also connected a character in the film to its announced Star Fox game, but the available details do not establish Fox’s role in the story or how much screen time he gets.
How Fox McCloud’s appearance was confirmed
Fox was identified in promotional material for the movie, rather than Nintendo’s initial cast list. GamesRadar reported on March 26, 2026, that a poster revealed Fox McCloud and that Glen Powell voices the character. Read GamesRadar’s report on the reveal.
Nintendo’s movie site hosts the final trailer and official posters, while Nintendo’s March 10 cast announcement names a number of performers but does not mention Fox or Powell. That release’s cast list should therefore not be treated as complete for every character revealed later. Nintendo’s official movie page · Nintendo’s March 10 announcement.
What kind of movie is it?
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is an animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. and follows The Super Mario Bros. Movie, released in 2023. It is a Mario-centered movie, not a standalone Star Fox film. Nintendo and Illumination produced it; Nintendo and Universal Pictures co-financed it, and Universal Pictures handled its worldwide release. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic directed, Matthew Fogel wrote the screenplay, and Brian Tyler composed the music, according to Nintendo’s production announcement.

What Fox’s appearance does—and does not—tell us
Nintendo’s May 2026 investor presentation listed a Star Fox title for Nintendo Switch 2, planned for June 25, 2026. It also said the Star Fox and Yoshi titles each feature a character who appears in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. This links the game announcement to a film character; it does not establish that the movie is a broader crossover or that Fox’s appearance signals a future standalone Star Fox movie. The date is the plan stated in Nintendo’s presentation, not confirmation of current availability. Nintendo’s May 2026 investor presentation.
