To repeat one prerecorded gaming video, use an OBS Media Source and turn on Loop. To play several videos in order and start again at the first, use an OBS VLC Video source, add the files to its playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. Keep the OBS encoder connected to the same YouTube live event between clips; stopping the encoder can end the broadcast.
Those settings repeat media, but OBS does not promise a zero-frame or zero-audio gap when switching between separate files. Test the complete playlist with your actual scene and files before going live.
Choose the right OBS playback source

OBS documents these controls in its Media Sources guide. The loop setting handles repetition; it does not make separately encoded files behave like one continuous file.
Set up the YouTube stream and OBS source
- Create or select the event: In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select the live stream. Copy its stream URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming settings. The key identifies the feed YouTube should accept; keep it private. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Set up playback in OBS:
- For a single local video, add a Media Source, select the file, and enable Loop.
- For multiple local videos, add a VLC Video source, populate the playlist in the order you want, and leave Loop Playlist enabled. Install VLC first, matching its 64-bit edition to 64-bit OBS.
- Start OBS and check the preview: Send the feed to YouTube, then inspect the Live Control Room preview before making the event public or otherwise taking it live. Check picture and sound, and monitor the broadcast as YouTube recommends in its live streaming tips.
- Keep the encoder session running: Let the source advance from one clip to the next without stopping or restarting OBS at each boundary. YouTube documents that the stream ends when encoder content transmission stops or the event is ended in the Control Room. This is why clip changes should happen inside the playback source while the encoder feed remains active.
- Test the full loop: Play through every clip, confirm the last one returns to the first, and watch and listen across each transition. Check that the scene does not reveal an empty source during a file change.
Reduce gaps between separate gaming videos
Inspect the files themselves
A black tail, silent ending, or other unwanted padding in a clip will remain part of playback even when OBS loops the playlist correctly. Trim or edit those sections if you want them removed. If a brief pause is intentional, add a short slate or transition in the playback workflow and verify how it appears in the live preview.

Do not assume playlist looping means seamless switching
OBS’s documentation describes how to repeat a file or playlist, but does not certify frame-accurate, gap-free handoffs between different files. A transition that looks continuous in an editing timeline may still show a brief blank or silent interval during playback. Only a test with the actual files and scene can show what viewers will receive.
Keep the YouTube broadcast open between clips
The stream URL and key connect OBS’s encoder output to YouTube Live; they do not create or sequence the video playlist. Sequence content in the OBS source and leave the feed active. YouTube’s live stream settings guide also covers Auto-start and Auto-stop for certain encoder workflows, but those options do not replace OBS playlist setup.

Live Redirect is a separate feature for sending viewers to a Premiere after a live stream ends. It is not a way to queue clips within a continuing rerun; YouTube says viewers may need to wait about two seconds for the watch page to reload after a redirect. See the same YouTube settings guide.
Troubleshoot a blank, silent, or ended rerun
- The stream ends at a clip boundary: Check whether OBS stopped sending content or the event was ended in the Live Control Room. Keep the encoder session running while the source changes files; do not restart it for each clip.
- The playlist does not return to the first video: Confirm that the files are in the intended VLC Video playlist and that Loop Playlist is enabled.
- VLC Video is unavailable or will not play: Install VLC and confirm that its architecture matches OBS. OBS specifies 64-bit VLC for 64-bit OBS.
- A transition briefly shows black or silence: Inspect the clip’s tail and the next clip’s start, then trim or edit unwanted padding or add a deliberate short slate or transition. Test again; the documented loop controls do not guarantee a gap-free handoff.
- YouTube does not show the expected feed: Check the stream URL and stream key in OBS, then inspect the Live Control Room preview before taking the event live. YouTube’s streaming tips also discuss quality checks and backup encoders.
