You can edit a YouTube playlist’s order and membership while a broadcast is running, but YouTube does not document those edits as replacing the live program. To change what viewers see on air, change the source in the encoder or playout system feeding Switchboard Live.
Decide which video needs replacing
A video in a YouTube playlist
This is the public playlist viewers can browse on your channel. YouTube provides controls to reorder or remove its items. Those controls edit playlist membership and order; they do not promise to change a separate live feed already being sent by an encoder. See YouTube’s instructions for editing playlists on a computer.
The video currently on air
This is the content supplied to Switchboard by an encoder or playout system. Switchboard says it does not store prerecorded videos; the encoder must support and provide that content. Find the system generating the incoming video and use its documented procedure to change the active source or queue. Switchboard’s FAQ describes its role as a multistreaming platform, not as storage or playout for prerecorded files.
Edit a YouTube playlist’s order or membership

To change an item’s position, drag the video to the desired place in the playlist.

To remove an item, select More beside that video, then select Remove from .

Review the playlist to confirm its order or membership is correct.

These actions affect the YouTube playlist. YouTube’s instructions do not say that an already-open viewer’s display refreshes at a particular time, or that editing the playlist changes the encoder’s live output.

Identify the encoder or playout service supplying the feed. Switchboard’s documentation does not provide a universal procedure for changing another system’s active playlist or source.

Use that system’s documented controls to replace the current source or modify its queue. Whether a change takes effect mid-video, cuts over immediately, or interrupts the stream depends on that system.

Check the source system’s preview or output. Switchboard’s YouTube connection guide tells operators to confirm video appears in the confidence monitor and that the receiving indicator is green before going live.

Where practical, verify the result from a separate viewer of the live destination. Do not assume a replacement is immediate or interruption-free unless the encoder or playout provider documents that behavior.

What Switchboard’s controls change
Live title and description
Switchboard documents editing stream titles and descriptions while live for destinations that support live editing, including YouTube. These are metadata controls; the title and description instructions do not describe replacing the video source or editing YouTube playlist contents.

Scheduled events that have not gone live
For an upcoming event, Switchboard documents editing event details and destinations through its Events manager or workflow. Removing a destination such as YouTube permanently deletes that destination’s public event page. Shared promotional links then break, and people who selected “Notify Me” are no longer subscribed. This scheduled-event action is not a way to replace content in a running feed. See Switchboard’s Scheduled Events guidance.
