To show the lesson currently playing on a continuous YouTube education stream, add a browser-source graphic to your encoder and have it read the active lesson title from the same playlist or schedule that controls playback. Update that title at each lesson boundary, then check it in YouTube’s preview before relying on the stream. YouTube documents encoder streaming and browser-source overlays, but not a ready-made, playlist-aware lesson-title widget; the connection between lesson schedule and graphic is a workflow you build.
How the now-playing title works
YouTube receives the encoder’s audio and video feed. The encoder composites the lesson video with a graphic layer, such as a browser source, before sending the finished picture to YouTube. That graphic needs a data source and update logic of its own: the title changes only when your overlay learns that playback has moved to another lesson.
YouTube describes an encoder this way: “An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube.” YouTube Help’s encoder guide also describes connecting an encoder to a live stream. Its browser-source guidance is for an away or break overlay, not a lesson-title widget. Adapt the documented overlay approach to your own graphic rather than expecting YouTube Studio to generate titles from a playlist.
Build the lesson-title workflow
1. Keep one source of truth
Store lesson titles and their order in the same playlist or schedule used to determine what plays. For each lesson, record a title and either its duration or its start and end positions. If playback and the overlay use separate lists, a title change can drift from the video after an edit, skipped lesson, or restart.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
This schedule design is an implementation recommendation, not a schema prescribed by YouTube. Choose the update method to fit your playback setup:
- Fixed prerecorded sequence: Map elapsed playback time to the current lesson. Account for the sequence’s start point and what happens when playback restarts or loops.
- Operator-controlled playlist: Provide a control that lets the operator set the current lesson when the playback selection changes.
2. Create the title graphic
Make a small web page or local HTML page that displays the current title. Use type that remains legible at the stream’s output size, sufficient contrast against changing lesson footage, and a position inside the video’s safe margins. The page can read a small JSON or text value, or receive updates through a local control page; those are design choices, not features specified by YouTube.
Set the browser source’s width and height to match the encoder’s output canvas. Add it above the lesson-video layer and position it where it will not obscure essential content. Confirm that the encoder supports the local or hosted source you chose.

3. Connect the title to playback
At each lesson boundary, update the value the overlay reads. For a timed sequence, calculate the active lesson from the schedule and elapsed playback time. For an operator-controlled sequence, change the title when the operator changes lessons. Set a sensible fallback—such as “Lesson information unavailable”—for missing or delayed title data rather than leaving a stale title on screen without warning.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTest how the schedule behaves when a lesson is added, removed, shortened, or replayed. If the playlist can skip or pause items, elapsed time alone may no longer identify the active lesson accurately; the title update should follow the actual playback state or be corrected by an operator.
4. Add the overlay to the encoder
In your encoder, add the browser page as a source and place it above the video. The exact menu labels depend on the encoder. YouTube’s documented browser-source example uses an away overlay; the general setup—adding a browser source and matching its dimensions to the stream—is the part to adapt for your title graphic. Preview the composition in the encoder before connecting it to the live event.

5. Send the encoder feed to YouTube
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and select or create the live stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- Enter those values in your encoder’s streaming settings, then start the encoder’s feed.
- Wait for the incoming video to appear in the Live Control Room preview before starting the broadcast.
YouTube’s encoder setup instructions cover connecting an encoder. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not show it on screen or share it. YouTube explains the key and how to manage it in its stream-key help. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder with the replacement.
6. Verify timing and recovery
Use the Live Control Room preview to check the title’s legibility, placement, and timing against the lesson. YouTube recommends previewing and monitoring encoder streams; see its live-streaming troubleshooting guidance and accessibility guidance. Before production, test lesson transitions, a missing or delayed title update, an encoder restart, and recovery of the overlay after its page or data source becomes unavailable.

YouTube’s Live Streaming API represents a live event as a liveBroadcast and its incoming audio/video feed as a liveStream. The API supports creating, managing, binding, transitioning, and monitoring these resources. The cited API documentation does not describe rendering changing lesson titles into the video; keep event and feed management separate from the encoder-side graphic.

For recurring scheduled events, Google documents binding one stream to multiple broadcasts. That can simplify recurring event setup, but it does not add lesson-level title changes to the video. See the stream-reuse guidance.

A 24/7 setup needs a plan for more than the video feed: someone or something must detect a stalled encoder, failed overlay data, or a mismatch between playback and title, and decide how to recover. A custom encoder gives you control over the schedule, graphic, and fallback behavior, but you are responsible for hosting and monitoring that system.
For continuous prerecorded YouTube video, StreamNeo is the first cloud option to consider: it loops uploaded videos without keeping a computer on, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not stream from a camera. Its title-overlay and playlist compatibility should be confirmed against your specific workflow before choosing it.

Quick Recap
Before you go live
- Confirm that each displayed title matches the lesson actually playing, including after skips, edits, and restarts.
- Check the graphic in the YouTube preview at the intended output size, not only in the encoder’s editing view.
- Protect the stream key and know how to reset it if it is exposed.
- Review YouTube’s copyright rules and monetization policies for the lessons and other material in the stream. A continuous broadcast does not grant rights to use third-party content; see YouTube’s copyright guidance and YouTube channel monetization policies.
- Assign responsibility for monitoring playback, overlay updates, and recovery during continuous operation.
