If Schedule I feels laggy in multiplayer, first work out whether the problem is delayed network response or low frame rate and stuttering. Those symptoms point to different causes, and no single fix for the current build is established. Check the connection and PC performance separately before trying community workarounds.
Is it network lag or low FPS?
Steam Support defines lag as “high network latency interfering with gameplay.” In practice, delayed actions or players teleporting while the picture remains smooth can indicate a connection problem. If the whole image or movement looks choppy and the frame rate drops, investigate PC performance instead. This distinction is a starting point, not a Schedule I-specific diagnostic test.
Also compare what each person in the co-op session sees. If several players experience the same delay, that is useful context when reporting the problem; if only one player sees it, check that player’s connection and PC first. Neither pattern alone proves the cause.
Check the network path
For symptoms that look network-related, Steam’s general guidance is to check latency and region, other applications using bandwidth, router conditions, and the local connection. Its network troubleshooting advice also includes checking Steam server status and firewalls.

- Check for a broader service issue. Review Steam server status before changing local settings. If the problem is limited to Schedule I, note that distinction when seeking help.
- Pause bandwidth-heavy activity. Close or pause downloads, streaming, and other applications that may be using the connection, then test the co-op session again.
- Compare the connection type. If you are on Wi-Fi or a powerline connection, try a direct wired Ethernet connection as a diagnostic. Steam notes that wireless and powerline connections can contribute to intermittent failures. A cable can help isolate a local connection issue; it cannot fix a game-server or developer-side bandwidth limit.
- Check the router and firewall. Restarting or reviewing router conditions and making sure a firewall is not interfering are part of Steam’s general network guidance. Port forwarding is a later, situation-specific step—not a universal first fix. Follow Steam’s ports guidance only if it fits your network and you understand the changes.
Compare your PC with Schedule I’s requirements
Steam’s Schedule I listing, accessed October 3, 2026, publishes the following requirements. Meeting them does not guarantee smooth multiplayer performance, but comparing your hardware is a useful check when the symptom is low FPS or visible stutter.

Steam’s performance troubleshooting guidance notes that game settings can affect FPS and choppiness. If the connection seems responsive but frame rate is poor, compare performance after adjusting graphics settings; a GPU upgrade is not a remedy for network latency.

What Schedule I players have reported
Steam Community discussions posted between March and June 2025 include reports of clients freezing while joining, multiplayer problems at later stages, and movement stutter. Thread titles include “Multiplayer Issues since Update,” “Multiplayer issues,” “Lag / Teleportation issues?” and “Laggy/Stuttery Movement.” These are individual reports, not evidence of how common the symptoms are or proof that they affect the current build.
Some posters suggested reinstalling, clearing local files, changing window mode, or turning V-Sync off. These are user-reported workarounds, not verified or developer-endorsed fixes. Back up save data before removing local files; the reports do not establish a reliable save-deletion procedure.

What the 2025 bandwidth report does—and does not—show
In a report published November 3, 2025, PC Gamer said TVGS had identified a multiplayer connection problem caused by bandwidth being exceeded, and that there was “still some more work to do” before it was fully resolved. That is a dated report about the status at that time, not confirmation that the same issue remains unresolved or explains a player’s present lag.
