You can schedule a Restream pre-recorded video to air automatically on YouTube at a chosen time. If by “restart” you mean replay the video in the same broadcast, Restream documents a finite loop of up to 10 plays, with a 40-hour maximum stream. Its documentation does not establish that a finished event automatically creates a new broadcast on a recurring schedule.
Schedule a pre-recorded video to start automatically
- In Restream, choose New Stream, then Pre-recorded livestream and Video.
- Select an existing upload or recording, or upload a video file.
- Enter the event title and description, then choose the date and time. Set a loop count only if you want a finite replay and your account includes the feature.
- Optionally create an event post in advance and add a thumbnail.
- Select your YouTube channel and create the event.
Restream says the event will air at the scheduled time without you manually going live. You can open the live event in Restream to monitor the stream and chat. See Restream’s pre-recorded event scheduling guide.
YouTube live streaming must already be enabled for the channel. Restream says first-time enablement requires phone verification and a 24-hour wait; allow for that before scheduling your first broadcast. Restream’s scheduling guide describes video streaming as available to all users, while storage and file-size limits depend on the add-on tier and looping has paid-tier requirements. Check Restream’s current plan details for eligibility.
What “restart” means in Restream
Restream documents repeating a video a set number of times within one event, not automatically creating a fresh YouTube Live event after that event ends. Its loop guide, dated March 11, 2026, states a limit of up to 10 loops and a maximum 40-hour stream. Treat these as limits for a single looped broadcast, not as a perpetual restart feature. | Your goal | Restream workflow | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Start one recording at a chosen time | Schedule a pre-recorded video event and select YouTube. | The event airs automatically at its scheduled time. |
| Replay one video within a broadcast | Choose a finite loop count. | Up to 10 loops and a 40-hour maximum stream; loop availability depends on plan eligibility. |
| Combine multiple recordings | Schedule a playlist. | Up to 40 video entries and 24 hours; playlists do not have a loop control. |
| Start a new broadcast every day or indefinitely | Schedule separate events, or ask Restream support about current recurring-event options. | The documented finite loop does not establish recurring creation of fresh events. |
Use a playlist for several recordings
A Restream playlist can package multiple videos into one scheduled broadcast. Restream’s playlist guide, dated July 25, 2026, lists a maximum duration of 24 hours and up to 40 video entries. Playlists themselves cannot be set to loop, but the loop guide says you can duplicate entries, subject to the 40-entry limit. Playlists also cannot be blended with live content. Separately scheduled playlists can run back-to-back as distinct streams, with a two-minute buffer between them. That is a way to schedule multiple broadcasts, not confirmation of an indefinitely recurring event. Restream playlist guide

Connect an existing YouTube Live event instead
If you need to retain a YouTube event you already created, you can connect it to a Restream scheduled stream. For the custom RTMP route, copy the event’s stream URL and key into Restream, and enable YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop controls. Without auto-start, you must click Go Live on YouTube after Restream starts sending the stream; without auto-stop, you must manually end the YouTube event. Restream says events created through the YouTube mobile app are not supported for this connection route. Restream’s existing-event guide
Restream’s API integration is available to all users, while custom RTMP channels require a paid Restream plan and do not support Restream Chat and Analytics, according to that guide. When possible, creating the scheduled event through Restream avoids this extra connection path.

Check the replay and YouTube requirements
- Archive length: Restream’s YouTube guide says YouTube archives streams under 12 hours. If keeping the full replay matters, account for that limit when planning a long broadcast. Restream YouTube guide
- Rights to the video: Use footage, music, and other material you have the rights to stream. Scheduling does not change YouTube’s copyright rules or guarantee monetization eligibility.
- File and plan limits: Confirm your account’s current storage, upload-size, looping, and playlist eligibility before relying on a long or repeated program.
Troubleshoot a scheduled stream that does not start as expected
- The YouTube channel is not available: Enable YouTube live streaming first. For a first-time enablement, Restream says to complete phone verification and wait 24 hours before streaming.
- Restream is sending video, but the existing YouTube event stays offline: Check that YouTube auto-start is enabled. If it is off, manually select Go Live in YouTube after Restream begins sending.
- The YouTube event does not end when the video finishes: Check the event’s auto-stop setting; otherwise end the event manually in YouTube.
- You cannot select a loop or playlist option: Check whether your Restream plan includes the relevant feature and whether the selected content meets the current limits.
- The stream ends after a finite number of plays: That is expected for a configured loop. A finite loop does not create a new event; schedule another event if you need a later broadcast.
- An existing event created in the YouTube mobile app will not connect: Restream says that event type is unsupported on the documented connection route. Create the event through Restream or use a supported YouTube event.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is an always-on YouTube channel rather than a scheduled Restream event, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. StreamNeo supports uploaded video up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and offers the first day free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streaming of uploaded videos, not camera-based live video. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
