Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallTo stream a Telugu devotional playlist to YouTube with FFmpeg, create or select a live stream in YouTube Studio, copy that stream’s ingest URL and key, then have FFmpeg send a compatible audio/video feed to the destination. Use the RTMPS URL YouTube provides when your FFmpeg build supports it, test the preview before making the event public, and only include recordings you have the rights to stream.
Before you begin
- Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s current general guidance sets the minimum age for live streaming at 16. See YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance.
- Install an FFmpeg build that includes the encoders and protocol support you intend to use. Availability varies by build; check the local build rather than assuming it has a particular encoder or RTMPS support. FFmpeg documents its protocols at FFmpeg Protocols Documentation.
- Have a video file or other input ready, and confirm that your upload connection can sustain the chosen video bitrate with room for fluctuations.
- Confirm that you own or have permission to stream each recording in the playlist. Telugu language, devotional subject matter, or a traditional melody does not by itself establish that a particular recording may be rebroadcast.
Create the YouTube stream and retrieve its key
- In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live to open Live Control Room.
- Open the Stream tab. Create a stream or select the scheduled stream you intend to use.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from that stream’s settings. Use the actual URL shown there—do not substitute an assumed generic ingest address. Prefer the RTMPS URL if your FFmpeg build supports it. YouTube recommends RTMPS, an encrypted extension of RTMP. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and RTMPS guidance.
- Keep the key private. YouTube describes stream keys as password-like credentials that identify the encoder feed. Do not put a real key in a public command, screenshot, repository, or article. If exposed, reset it in Live Control Room’s Stream tab and update the encoder. See Manage live stream settings.
Choose compatible encoding settings
YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends CBR, supports up to 60 fps, and recommends a two-second keyframe interval that must not exceed four seconds. Its listed video codecs include H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1; listed audio codecs include AAC and MP3. For a straightforward FFmpeg file-to-YouTube workflow, the example below uses H.264 video and AAC audio in an FLV output. Match the settings to your actual FFmpeg build and YouTube’s current table for the codec, resolution, and frame rate you choose. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
| H.264 target | Minimum bitrate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s published ingestion guidelines, not a guarantee that a particular computer or connection can deliver a stable stream. YouTube also specifies progressive scan, square pixels, stereo AAC audio at 128 Kbps with 44.1 kHz sampling, and Rec. 709 for SDR. If your upload connection cannot reliably sustain the chosen bitrate, reduce resolution or bitrate rather than sending an unstable feed.
Run FFmpeg and check the preview
This illustrative command sends one file in real time using H.264 video at 30 fps and AAC audio. Replace the input filename and destination with your own values. It is an example to adapt, not a tested universal preset; it assumes an FFmpeg build with libx264 and AAC support, and a YouTube URL/key format compatible with the selected RTMPS destination.

ffmpeg -re -i "input-file" -c:v libx264 -preset veryfast
-b:v 4500k -maxrate 4500k -bufsize 9000k -g 60
-r 30 -pix_fmt yuv420p -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "RTMPS_URL_WITH_STREAM_KEY"
The -re option reads a file at its native rate rather than sending it as fast as possible. The example’s -g 60 sets a 60-frame GOP, which is two seconds at 30 fps. Its 4.5 Mbps video setting is only an illustrative choice and is below YouTube’s recommended 8 Mbps for H.264 720p30; choose bitrate and resolution using YouTube’s table and your available upload capacity. The FLV publishing pattern follows FFmpeg’s documented real-time file-to-RTMP example; use the exact URL/key format displayed by YouTube. See FFmpeg’s protocol documentation.
- Run the command locally, replacing
input-filewith the file path and the destination placeholder with the stream’s current URL/key format. - Watch FFmpeg’s output for connection or encoding errors. In Live Control Room, wait for the incoming stream preview and check both picture and sound.
- When the preview is healthy, click Go live in Live Control Room. Continue monitoring stream health and audio/video quality during the broadcast.
- To end the broadcast, stop FFmpeg from sending content and use Live Control Room’s end-stream control where applicable. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived.
YouTube’s operational tips advise setting up the encoder stream at least two hours before an event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes beforehand, leaving time to inspect the preview and resolve problems. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.

Stream a playlist rather than one file
The command above handles one input file. For multiple devotional recordings, first prepare a playlist input that FFmpeg can read in the intended order, with consistent audio levels and formats where practical. FFmpeg’s concat demuxer can read a text file such as playlist.txt containing one file '/path/to/recording.mp4' line per item; use compatible inputs and consult your installed FFmpeg documentation for the concat demuxer’s requirements. Then use -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.txt in place of -i "input-file" in the command, while retaining real-time pacing with -re before the input. Test transitions and audio before the scheduled broadcast: a playlist that stops at the end is not automatically a continuous loop, and looping behavior needs to be configured deliberately in the input workflow.
Common problems and fixes
- FFmpeg cannot connect: Re-copy the URL from the selected YouTube stream’s settings and verify it is the RTMPS field, not an assumed address. Confirm that the build supports the protocol. For a specific SSL error, YouTube’s RTMPS troubleshooting guidance suggests specifying port 443; use the endpoint format shown in YouTube’s instructions.
- YouTube does not show a preview: Check FFmpeg’s output for connection errors, confirm you selected the intended stream and key, and verify that data is still being sent. Wait for the preview before clicking Go live.
- The stream buffers or loses quality: The outgoing bitrate may exceed stable upload capacity, or the encoder/computer may not keep up. Lower the resolution or bitrate, then test again. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate and stream quality.
- Video appears but audio does not: Confirm the input contains an audio stream and that FFmpeg is encoding it. The example maps the first available audio stream by default; inspect the input if it has multiple tracks or unusual channel layouts.
- Connection fails after a key change: A reset key invalidates the old credential. Replace the destination’s key with the current one from Live Control Room, taking care not to reveal it.
- A playlist ends unexpectedly: The single-file command does not create an endless loop. Configure playlist sequencing and looping separately, and test the full transition behavior before going live.
