Bring a StreamVoodoo video’s Magic Link into a tool such as OBS or vMix as a browser source, then enter YouTube’s stream URL and key in that tool. YouTube is the final destination; StreamVoodoo supplies the video feed.
Does StreamVoodoo connect directly to YouTube?
StreamVoodoo’s available FAQ describes using its video output in a switcher, then sending the resulting production to social media or another RTMP destination. It does not document an OAuth-style control for linking a YouTube account inside StreamVoodoo. The supported workflow described here is StreamVoodoo → OBS, vMix, or another encoder → YouTube.
In that setup, StreamVoodoo provides the source feed. The switcher or encoder receives that feed and sends the live program to YouTube using YouTube’s server URL and stream key.
Check YouTube live-stream eligibility first
Before setting up the production, confirm that the channel can go live. YouTube’s current Help guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and the person streaming must be at least 16. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable live streaming well before an event. YouTube: Get started with live streaming and YouTube: Stream using an encoder.

Set up the StreamVoodoo room and feed
- Sign in and choose a room. Select an existing broadcast room or name a room for the session.
- Name the participant and grant permissions. Enter the participant name and allow camera and microphone access when prompted.
- Invite guests if needed. Use the room’s Invite option to share its joining link.
- Copy the video’s Magic Link. StreamVoodoo describes each video’s Magic Link as that video’s output with sound. Use the link as a browser source in a switcher such as OBS or vMix. StreamVoodoo FAQ.
The Magic Link is the source to bring into the production; it is not a YouTube stream key and does not, by itself, connect the room to your YouTube channel.
Send the StreamVoodoo feed to YouTube
- Add the feed to your switcher. In OBS, vMix, or another encoder that supports browser sources, add the Magic Link as a browser source and arrange it in the production as needed. Check that the source’s sound is included in the program mix.
- Open YouTube Studio. Choose Create → Go Live, then use the Stream tab to create a stream or reload prior settings.
- Copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key. In your encoder’s stream or output settings, paste the YouTube stream URL into the server field and the stream key into the key field. YouTube’s instruction is: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” YouTube: Stream using an encoder.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Start streaming from the encoder. For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview in YouTube Live Control Room, check the feed, and then click Go live in YouTube.
Protect the stream key and check audio
Keep the key private
The stream key lets an encoder send content to your YouTube channel. Treat it like a credential: do not share it in a guest invite or publish it with the Magic Link. Manage stream settings in YouTube Studio, and enter the key only in the encoder you intend to use.

Avoid feedback and echo
When StreamVoodoo Studio Sound is enabled, StreamVoodoo recommends using headphones: speaker output can be picked up by the microphone and return as feedback or echo. Headphones are a monitoring aid, not a requirement for every setup. After connecting the source, listen to the encoder or YouTube preview before starting the event.
Common connection problems
- You cannot start a YouTube stream: verify the channel, check for a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and confirm the streamer meets YouTube’s age requirement. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- YouTube receives no signal: check that the encoder is running and that the YouTube server URL and stream key are in the correct fields. Recheck the selected stream and its settings in YouTube Studio.
- The video source is missing: confirm the Magic Link was added as a browser source and that the source can load in the switcher. Make sure the room and video are available to the participant using that link.
- The stream has picture but no sound: check the browser-source audio and the encoder’s program mix, then monitor the preview. If Studio Sound is on, use headphones to reduce speaker-to-microphone feedback.
- There is an echo or feedback: prevent speakers from feeding into the microphone; use headphones and review the audio routing in the room and switcher.
