FFmpeg can loop a compatible playlist continuously, but it does not schedule a start for Indian Standard Time (IST): use an external scheduler set to Asia/Kolkata, then verify each stream in YouTube Live Control Room.
How the multi-channel setup works
Think of each channel as its own pipeline: a playlist file feeds one FFmpeg process, and that process sends the video to the matching YouTube Live event. Keep each playlist, process configuration, and destination credentials paired. The straightforward setup is one independent process per channel; the sources do not establish a universal maximum number of channels or a built-in way for one FFmpeg process to schedule multiple independent events.
Playlist rotation and IST scheduling are separate jobs. FFmpeg reads and streams media; an external scheduler launches the relevant process at the intended time. Configure that scheduler with the IANA timezone Asia/Kolkata, rather than relying on a host’s informal “IST” label. Confirm the machine clock and scheduler timezone, especially if the host is configured for another region.
Prepare YouTube Live for each channel

Open the event’s encoder settings in Live Control Room and copy its server URL and stream key. YouTube’s encoder guide explains that both are entered in the encoder: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder. Find more detail on stream settings at Manage live stream settings.

Store each key as a secret and make sure it is used only by the process for its corresponding channel. Treat the key like a password: do not put real keys in scripts that may be shared, tutorials, command transcripts, or logs. If a key is exposed, reset it in the stream settings.

Choose RTMPS when it is supported by your FFmpeg build and the event’s ingest URL. YouTube recommends encrypted RTMPS transport; its encoder settings also describe supported ingest and encoding guidance: YouTube encoder settings.
Build one concat playlist per channel
Create a plain-text playlist file for each channel. The concat demuxer reads entries in order; for example, a file named channel-a.txt might contain:

FFmpeg’s concat demuxer has a strict compatibility condition: listed files need the same streams, codecs, and time base. See the FFmpeg documentation and FFmpeg FAQ. When the files are compatible
The concat demuxer is a practical sequential reader when the files share compatible stream layouts and media properties. You can loop the concatenated input with -stream_loop -1 for continuous playback. Validate the playlist and playback before relying on it for a scheduled event.
When the files differ
If files have different codecs, stream layouts, or other incompatible properties, prepare normalized files in advance or build a concat-filter workflow that re-encodes them to common properties. The filter approach can accommodate more variation, but it requires a suitable filter graph and encoding resources. Pick stream copy only when the inputs already match the target requirements; transcode when you need to standardize, resize, or change frame rate. Test with the actual files and machine rather than assuming a fixed CPU or GPU capacity.
Run a separate FFmpeg process for each channel
This schematic command shows the shape of one process; it is illustrative, not a tested, production-ready command. Replace the playlist and ingest destination with that channel’s values, and choose codecs and encoding settings for the source and YouTube event.

ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -f concat -safe 0 -i channel-a.txt
-c:v libx264 -c:a aac -f flv "$CHANNEL_A_INGEST_URL"-re reads input at its native rate, -stream_loop -1 repeats the input, and -f concat selects the concat demuxer. The example uses H.264 video, AAC audio, and FLV output as a starting structure, not as a guarantee that the command fits every input or FFmpeg build. Check the installed build with ffmpeg -version and confirm it includes the chosen encoders and protocol support.
The example includes -safe 0 because playlists with absolute paths may need it. Do not add it indiscriminately: use it only when necessary and only with trusted playlist files. Keep ingest credentials out of shell history and logs; use a protected secrets mechanism appropriate to the host rather than pasting a real key into a shared command.

Choose output settings for the actual event
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and up to 60 frames per second. It recommends a 2-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed 4 seconds. Follow the current encoder settings for the event, resolution, and available ingest options. Set the frame size, frame rate, video and audio bitrates, and GOP/keyframe interval explicitly when needed; do not assume the schematic command chooses appropriate values automatically.
Schedule each launch in Asia/Kolkata time

Set the scheduler timezone explicitly to
Asia/Kolkata. Confirm both the scheduler’s timezone and the host clock; do not assume that “IST” in an interface identifies the intended timezone. -
Set the launch time to match the YouTube event and start the encoder early enough to check the preview and stream health before relying on the scheduled start. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend preparing ahead of the event.

Test the scheduler with a non-critical event or a controlled start. The reviewed FFmpeg and YouTube documentation does not define native IST scheduling for playlist rotation, so confirm the behavior of your chosen scheduler and service environment.

Estimate capacity for concurrent channels
Every concurrent output consumes upload bandwidth. Add the target bitrates for all simultaneous streams, then leave at least 20% upload headroom, as recommended in YouTube’s streaming tips. For example, if the combined target bitrate is 10 Mbps, 20% headroom means planning for at least 12 Mbps of stable available upload capacity. That is a planning calculation, not a guarantee of network performance.
Encoding load depends on whether FFmpeg copies compatible streams or transcodes them, as well as the number of outputs, codecs, resolutions, frame rates, and host hardware. There is no supported universal channel limit: test the intended concurrent workload and monitor both the host and network. A wired connection or a different host is relevant only if testing shows upload instability or insufficient capacity.

In each channel’s Live Control Room, check the preview before the event and confirm the right playlist is reaching the right channel.

Check moving video, audio, resolution, frame rate, and YouTube’s stream-health messages. YouTube recommends monitoring health and messages in its encoder settings and encoder guide.

Watch every FFmpeg process and scheduler job independently. A process starting successfully does not prove that YouTube is receiving a healthy stream.

Review YouTube’s archive behavior for the specific event before depending on a recording: the encoder guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but confirm current behavior for the channel and event.

Check rights for every video, music track, and other media in the playlist. A technically healthy stream does not establish permission to broadcast its contents or guarantee monetization eligibility. Review YouTube’s current guidance and the applicable rights for your material before going live.
Troubleshoot common failures

YouTube may also assess channels under its policies on reused content and monetization; looping or rotating videos is not, by itself, proof that a channel meets those requirements.
