Send it over RTMPS where supported. YouTube does not publish a specific 1080p24 bitrate: its H.264 table gives 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended for 1080p30, so those figures are context, not a 24 fps prescription.
Recommended settings for a 1080p24 loop

YouTube recommends CBR and RTMPS for live encoder settings. Its published H.264 bitrate table has 1080p30 at 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended, and 1080p60 at 6 Mbps minimum and 17 Mbps recommended; it has no 1080p24 row. Do not label any of those values as YouTube’s official 24 fps recommendation. Choose a bitrate appropriate to your encoder and content, leave sustained upload headroom, and judge the actual result using Live Control Room stream health. Choose the loop method for your source
Single still image
Use FFmpeg’s image2 input options to set the input frame rate and repeat the image. Put those input options before the relevant -i. Image2 defaults to 25 fps, so specify the intended rate rather than relying on that default. Check the installed FFmpeg build’s available options. FFmpeg options documentation
Numbered image sequence
Use image2’s sequence pattern and set its input frame rate to match your material, or deliberately convert the output to 24 fps. Keep the sequence images consistent in dimensions, pixel format, and file format. FFmpeg options documentation

Existing video
FFmpeg’s loop video filter can repeat frames; loop=-1 means repeat indefinitely. You may also have an input-loop option in your installed version. Validate timestamps, audio duration, and the loop seam: looping video frames alone does not establish seamless audio or gapless playback for every file. FFmpeg filters documentation
Build the FFmpeg command
This is an illustrative command shape, not a tested, universal command. Replace placeholders, select source-specific input and loop options, and verify that your FFmpeg build supports the chosen encoder and options. FFmpeg options generally apply to the next input or output; option order matters. For image2, use its input -framerate before -i when setting input cadence. VIDEO_RATEandVBV_SIZEfor your chosen encoder and available upload capacity; the command does not prescribe a validated 1080p24 bitrate. - The scale-and-pad filter preserves the full picture while fitting 1920×1080; cropping instead changes composition. If the source is already suitable 1080p24, unnecessary scaling may be omitted.
-g 48sets a 48-frame GOP for two seconds at 24 fps. Confirm the encoder’s actual GOP and closed/open GOP behavior; YouTube’s API flags long GOPs and open GOP configuration as potential stream problems. Connect and test before the live loop
- In YouTube Live Control Room, obtain the RTMPS ingest URL and the corresponding stream key. Do not substitute a URL or key from another stream. YouTube recommends RTMPS as the secure extension of RTMP. YouTube RTMPS help · YouTube RTMPS developer guide
- Start FFmpeg with the source-appropriate loop options and inspect its output for connection or encoding errors.
- Send a test with representative movement and audio, then check YouTube Live Control Room’s incoming stream state and health messages before relying on the loop. YouTube live encoder settings
Troubleshoot common stream problems
