Artefacts of the Tyrant is an Act One quest in Divinity: Original Sin 2. Find five pieces of Braccus Rex’s armour across Fort Joy and the Hollow Marshes. Some require a character-stat check, Teleportation, or Source points. Wearing all five at once removes the pieces’ individual curses; the set does not grant a separate bonus ability.
How to start Artefacts of the Tyrant
The quest begins when you read Magister’s Journal or pick up any piece of the armour. It asks you to find five items, one for each armour slot. The locations and requirements below are described in fan-maintained guides for Divinity: Original Sin 2 and its Definitive Edition context; the quest walkthrough was last edited on May 10, 2026.
The walkthrough recommends finding Tyrant’s Stride first in the Ancient Passage. Once you reach the Hollow Marshes, it says the other four pieces can be collected in any order.
Where to find each Tyrant armour piece

Retrieval details that can block progress
Pass the statue check for Tyrant’s Stride
Go to the west statue in the Ancient Passage’s Withermoore’s Soul Jar area and interact with it using a character with at least 15 Wits. If the character does not meet that threshold, choose another party member for the check.

Reach Lorenzo’s tower with Teleportation
Tracks of the Tyrant is on Lorenzo’s body on a broken tower along the northern Hollow Marshes coast. Teleportation is required to reach it; the walkthrough does not describe an alternate route.
Access the helm in Braccus’s Armoury
In the Decrepit Ruins, the helm’s retrieval sequence involves Braccus Rex’s shrine and a Source point. The community walkthrough additionally instructs players to bless the lever. The available directions do not establish whether every game version or route requires that exact lever step.

Open the coffin for Hands of the Tyrant
Reaching the coffin involves the Gargoyle’s Maze and the related necromancer sequence in the tower. The quest walkthrough describes destroying the necromancers’ soul jars or defeating them, then using a key to reach the tower’s northern end. At the coffin, lower the barrier using one Source Point and meet the 18 Strength requirement to open it.
What the full set does—and does not do
According to the quest and item references, equipping all five pieces together removes their individual cursed effects. A GameFAQs item reference says the full set has no additional benefit beyond that: it does not grant a separate set-bonus ability. The Band of Braccus is a different item and can still curse its wearer.

What happens when you use Purge on the helm
GameFAQs reports that using the Corrupted Tyrant’s Helm’s Purge ability three times triggers a fight with a demon and that defeating it yields the non-corrupted Tyrant’s Helm. The item guide spells the demon’s name “Kryir the Kettlegrinder,” while the quest page spells it “Krylr.” Because the references disagree, treat the spelling as uncertain rather than relying on either version.
