To run a YouTube playlist continuously, you need a separate playback and encoding setup that can loop the playlist and recover from interruptions, plus StreamVoodoo only if you need its source-routing features. What StreamVoodoo does—and what a 24/7 playlist needs
StreamVoodoo’s FAQ describes rooms for connecting video sources, outputs that can feed OBS or vMix, and Magic Links that provide individual video-with-audio outputs for use as browser sources. It also describes sending media playback with audio into a room through an OBS virtual camera or an NDI output. These are production-routing capabilities; the available materials do not document a native playlist scheduler, continuous looping, or automatic unattended restart. StreamVoodoo FAQ
For an always-on YouTube broadcast, identify which component will perform each job before you go live:
- Playlist playback: plays the videos in order and repeats them when the end is reached.
- Production routing: combines or passes sources if your production requires it. StreamVoodoo may serve this role.
- Encoding and transmission: sends the video to YouTube using the channel’s server URL and stream key.
- Continuity: restarts playback or transmission after a failure, without relying on someone being present.
Do not assume that one service covers all four jobs. Confirm looping and recovery with the playback or hosting system you choose, and test whether the complete chain continues after a source disconnect, encoder restart, or network interruption.

How to set up a YouTube playlist with StreamVoodoo in the workflow
1. Confirm the channel can stream
YouTube Help says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days to stream. It also says creators must be at least 16. A live-stream restriction can last 14 days after a strike; while one is active, using another channel to get around it is prohibited. YouTube also sets limits of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key. These are YouTube limits, not StreamVoodoo room limits. 2. Prepare and check the media
Build the playlist in a playback system that explicitly supports repeating it. Check the transition from the final item back to the first, audio continuity, and what happens if a file is missing or playback stops. The StreamVoodoo workflow described in its FAQ does not establish that StreamVoodoo itself supplies these playlist controls.

Use only video and audio you own or are authorized to broadcast. That includes music, game footage, overlays, and any third-party material in the recording. YouTube live content must comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and YouTube may restrict or remove a stream. 3. Route the media through StreamVoodoo only if needed
If your setup needs StreamVoodoo’s room or routing features, use the input path appropriate to your production. Its FAQ describes playing media with audio into a room through an OBS virtual camera or an NDI output. It separately describes Magic Links as video-with-audio outputs that can be added as browser sources in OBS or vMix. These are alternative routing approaches for different workflows—not a requirement to use both. 4. Create the YouTube stream and enter its credentials
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create a stream or select the scheduled stream you prepared.
- Copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into the encoder or production software that will transmit the program. YouTube Help’s instruction is: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
- Treat the stream key as a password: do not show it in screenshots, recordings, public documents, or a scene visible to viewers.
- Start the encoder. For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview in Live Control Room and then select Go live, following YouTube’s current instructions.
- Watch the live output and confirm video, audio, playlist order, and transitions before leaving the system unattended.
For this workflow, the encoder is the software or system that sends the program feed to YouTube; a webcam or microphone is not inherently required for prerecorded playlist output. YouTube’s setup page lists those devices as examples for common live setups, not as required hardware for a prerecorded stream.
5. Prove looping and recovery before calling it 24/7
Run a supervised test long enough to reach the end of the playlist and confirm it starts again. Then test the failure cases you can reproduce safely: stop and restart the encoder, disconnect the media source, and interrupt the network connection. Record which component resumes playback and which component reconnects to YouTube. The available StreamVoodoo materials do not verify that it will loop a playlist or recover automatically from these failures, so do not attribute those behaviors to it without confirming them for your setup.

YouTube limits that affect a continuous broadcast
Archives are not guaranteed for an unlimited-length stream
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not guarantee a complete archive for an uninterrupted stream that runs longer than 12 hours. If you need a recording, plan a separate recording or shorter broadcast schedule and verify the resulting archive in YouTube Studio. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
Policy and rights still apply while the playlist repeats
A continuous stream remains subject to YouTube’s rules throughout its runtime. Repeating a playlist does not grant rights to its music or footage, and compliance with copyright rules does not by itself guarantee that content meets every YouTube policy or monetization requirement. Review the rights for every item and check YouTube’s current rules for your channel and content.
