To schedule a prerecorded video as a YouTube Live event with Restream, connect your YouTube channel, create a Pre-recorded livestream, select or upload the video, fill in the event details, choose YouTube as the destination, and create the event. Restream says playback begins automatically at the scheduled time—even if you are offline—so you do not need to start an encoder for this workflow.
Before you schedule: check YouTube access
Restream says YouTube requires phone verification and a 24-hour wait before a channel can livestream for the first time. The Google account you use to connect must own the YouTube channel; manager or editor access alone is not sufficient, according to Restream’s YouTube connection instructions. If you manage a channel owned by someone else, have the owner connect it.
Schedule the prerecorded video in Restream
- Connect the intended YouTube channel. In Restream, open Channels, click Add New, choose YouTube, select the Google account associated with the channel, and authorize access. If you have multiple Google accounts, confirm that the correct one is selected.
- Start a prerecorded event. Click + New Stream, choose Pre-recorded livestream, then select Video. Restream’s prerecorded-event guide says you can choose a video from Uploads or Recordings, or upload a file from your computer or mobile device.
- Enter the event information. Set the title, description, date, and time. Restream also documents optional video looping—up to 10 repetitions—an advance event post, and a custom thumbnail.
- Select YouTube and create the event. Turn on the connected YouTube channel as a destination and click Create Event. Check the selected video, channel, and scheduled time before confirming.
- Monitor it when it airs. Restream says the event starts automatically at the scheduled time. You can open the event from the Restream home screen during playback to view the stream and interact with chat.
Restream describes recorded-video streaming as available to its users, but video size and storage limits depend on the account’s plan or add-on. Check your current account limits before uploading; its Upload & Stream overview covers the feature and its allowances.
Prerecorded event or encoder-based live stream?
Choose the prerecorded flow when the video is finished and should start on a schedule. Choose an encoder-based stream when the event must send a live feed from an encoder. These are separate workflows: the prerecorded event uses a selected video and scheduled start, while the encoder route sends a live feed to YouTube and involves a stream URL and key, a preview in YouTube Live Control Room, and a Go live action. You do not need the encoder steps to schedule a prerecorded video.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If you are using an encoder rather than Restream’s prerecorded-event feature, follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder ingestion where supported. Restream’s YouTube integration guidance lists H.264 video, 240p through 2160p, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), a recommended two-second keyframe interval (four seconds maximum), AAC or MP3 audio, and audio settings of 128 Kbps stereo or 384 Kbps 5.1, at 44.1 kHz stereo or 48 kHz 5.1. These are compatibility guidelines for an encoder or source-production workflow, not settings you need to configure to schedule an uploaded video.
For encoder streams, YouTube separately publishes bitrate ranges by codec, resolution, and frame rate in its live encoder settings guide. YouTube also recommends previewing and testing the setup; for planned encoder events, it advises setting up the encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before the event. Those lead times concern encoder operations, not the prerecorded Restream schedule. See YouTube’s live streaming tips.

Copyright, reused content, and the YouTube archive
Scheduling a file does not exempt it from YouTube’s content rules. Before using music, gameplay footage, or other third-party material, confirm that you have the rights or permissions needed for the stream. A prerecorded video may also be considered reused content for monetization purposes; whether a channel qualifies depends on YouTube’s policies and review, not on whether the video is presented as a live event. Check YouTube’s current live-stream guidance and applicable channel policies if eligibility or rights are uncertain.
YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, and Restream repeats that limit in its integration guidance. That is an archiving statement, not a maximum duration for an uploaded prerecorded video. Do not use it as the duration limit for a scheduled file.

Troubleshoot common scheduling problems
- YouTube does not appear as a destination: Reopen Channels and confirm that the correct Google account and channel were connected and authorized. The channel owner—not only a manager or editor—needs to complete the connection.
- You cannot livestream on YouTube yet: Check that phone verification is complete. Restream says first-time livestream access may require a 24-hour wait after verification.
- The event does not start when expected: Check the event’s scheduled date and time, selected YouTube destination, and chosen video in Restream. Confirm that the event was created successfully. The prerecorded workflow starts from the scheduled event; it does not require launching an encoder.
- The file will not upload: Check your current Restream plan or add-on for video size and storage allowances, then select a supported file within those limits. Allowances can vary by account.
- You expected an encoder preview or a manual Go live button: Those belong to YouTube’s encoder-based workflow. For a scheduled prerecorded event, use Restream’s Pre-recorded livestream flow instead.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is an always-on YouTube channel rather than a single scheduled event, StreamNeo is a separate option for uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded content from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly is $9.99 per month.
StreamNeo streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos; it is not a camera-based live broadcast. See StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
