For a channel built around a live camera, gameplay session, or other live encoder output, Live Control Room is the YouTube-side control point. Can YouTube Live Control Room run a 24/7 stream?
Live Control Room can manage an encoder-driven stream, and YouTube’s encoder guide mentions 24/7 continuous streams. It is not itself a video-looping encoder: an encoder must send YouTube the stream, and the operator uses Control Room to check the preview and start the broadcast.
Start an encoder-driven YouTube stream
- In YouTube, create a live stream and get the YouTube stream URL and stream key.
- In your streaming software or hardware encoder, enter the stream URL and key. Keep the key private; anyone with it may be able to send video to your channel.
- Start the encoder so it sends a signal to YouTube.
- Open Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview, check that the correct video and audio are present, then select Go live.
- Keep the encoder sending a stable signal for as long as the broadcast is intended to run. Control Room cannot continue the feed if the encoder stops transmitting.
YouTube’s cited guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is an archive threshold, not a stated maximum stream duration: the guide does not establish what happens to every stream at or above 12 hours, so do not assume a longer broadcast will be archived in the same way. How OneStream’s 24/7 workflow works
OneStream documents a cloud workflow for scheduling prerecorded content as a continuous YouTube broadcast. Its help article says the feature is exclusive to YouTube, requires Enterprise, and allows up to 30 days for a stream. - Create a 24-hour stream in OneStream.

- Schedule the broadcast and set its duration in days, within OneStream’s stated maximum of 30 days.
- Confirm the YouTube destination and schedule in OneStream before the start time.
Because this method broadcasts prerecorded video, it is not a way to send a live camera or gameplay feed. Choose an encoder workflow for real-time footage.

- Choose Live Control Room and an encoder if the content is being produced live and you need YouTube to receive that real-time signal. You can use software or hardware; YouTube’s instructions do not make dedicated hardware mandatory.

Common decision pitfalls
- Expecting Control Room to loop files by itself: Control Room is the preview-and-start interface for an encoder signal. Use an encoder for live output or a cloud service built for prerecorded looping.
- Assuming 12 hours is YouTube’s stream limit: the cited YouTube guide states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not state that all longer broadcasts are impossible.
- Assuming OneStream’s add-on alone unlocks the feature: its help article also requires Enterprise. Verify the combination for your account before paying.
