Check YouTube’s Repeat setting on the TV or game console. “Repeat • Currently playing” loops one video; choose “Repeat • Playlist” to loop the whole playlist. If the control already says “Repeat • Playlist” but one video still keeps returning, YouTube’s published help and API documentation do not identify a definitive cause for that particular device or playlist.
Change Repeat to Playlist on a TV or game console
- Start the playlist and let a video play.
- Press down on the TV remote or game controller to show the playback controls.
- Select Repeat. Select it again if necessary until the screen reads “Repeat • Playlist.” You can also find Repeat in Settings while watching.
If the state reads “Repeat • Currently playing,” YouTube is set to repeat only the current video. The displayed label is the key distinction: playlist repeat returns to the playlist, while repeat-current-video keeps replaying that item. YouTube Help’s instructions for looping videos and playlists describe the TV and game-console controls.
If you are using a phone or computer
Android
Open the playlist’s control box and tap Loop. Tapping the control again changes it to repeat only the current video. Make sure the playlist loop control—not a single-video loop—is selected.
Computer
Open a video that belongs to the playlist, expand the playlist panel, and click its Loop control. Right-clicking the video player and choosing Loop repeats that video itself, so use the playlist panel’s control when you want the whole playlist to repeat.

Repeat and shuffle do different things
Repeat controls whether playback starts again after the playlist’s final video; shuffle changes the playback order. Google’s YouTube IFrame Player API documentation describes playlist looping and shuffle as separate behaviors. Its API description is not proof of how a particular TV app behaves internally.
If the same video keeps returning
- Confirm that the playlist itself is open, rather than playing a single video on its own.
- Check the on-screen Repeat state and make sure it says “Repeat • Playlist.”
- If it already says that and one item still repeats, the official documentation cited here does not provide a device-specific diagnosis or a verified further fix. It does not establish that a cache, network issue, queue problem, or app bug is responsible.
The documented remedy is an in-app playback setting operated with your existing remote or controller. This symptom alone is not a reason to buy a replacement remote or streaming device.
