Streamlabs Desktop lists 8 GB of RAM as its minimum and 16 GB or more as its recommended amount. For a 24/7 YouTube stream, 16 GB or more is the more prudent starting point—but Streamlabs does not certify that amount for continuous streaming or promise that any RAM capacity will keep a stream online.
What Streamlabs’ published requirements mean
Streamlabs’ Streamlabs Desktop System Requirements page, last updated April 8, 2026, gives two general system tiers:

Streamlabs says its minimum may work well for most streamers, while resource-intensive games or digital art, animated overlays, advanced plugins, other running programs, and the rest of the hardware can affect what settings perform best. The requirements page does not report measured RAM use during a broadcast, a 24/7 endurance test, or a YouTube-stream uptime guarantee.
Why a continuous stream may need more headroom
A 24/7 broadcast keeps the streaming application and its workload active for much longer than a short session. The practical memory demand depends on what the computer is doing: for example, running a game or other applications alongside Streamlabs is different from streaming a simpler scene with fewer active elements. Streamlabs does not publish a separate RAM figure for those 24/7 cases, so there is no official capacity that can be treated as universally sufficient.

Use 16 GB or more as a sensible target when planning a continuous stream, rather than treating 8 GB as proof that a particular computer will remain stable. RAM is only one part of the setup; the cited requirements page does not establish continuous reliability from memory capacity alone.
Check before upgrading
If your computer has less than 16 GB and you are considering an upgrade, first confirm that the specific machine supports one. The Streamlabs requirements page does not endorse a RAM module or state what memory fits your computer.

- Check the supported memory type and form factor for your computer.
- Confirm its maximum supported capacity and how much memory is currently installed.
- Check whether there are open memory slots, or whether existing memory would need replacement.
Use the computer maker’s specifications or support resources to verify compatibility before buying. A RAM upgrade can provide more capacity, but it cannot by itself promise a stable 24/7 stream.
Other requirements and connection guidance
The same Streamlabs page recommends Ethernet and says a connection of 3.6 Mbps or better is sufficient for 720p at 30 fps on most platforms. This is general guidance; it is not a YouTube-specific guarantee for an uninterrupted 24/7 stream.

The page’s operating-system entries are inconsistent: its minimum line says Windows 11 or macOS 12 and higher, while its recommended line says Windows 10 or macOS 13 and higher. It separately advises macOS 13 or later for continued long-term support. Check the current requirements page for the applicable guidance rather than assuming those Windows entries resolve into a single version recommendation.
