Yes—vMix can send its output to a YouTube live event you scheduled in YouTube Studio. But vMix does not include a time-of-day scheduler for automating a 24/7 programming lineup. For a scheduled event, you still start the stream from vMix and, in the documented workflow, select Go Live in YouTube Studio when its preview is ready. For continuous playback without fixed program start times, vMix’s PlayList or List features can loop videos.
What “scheduled stream” means in vMix
There are two different jobs that can sound like scheduling: arranging one YouTube live event to begin at a future time, and automatically running a channel’s programming around the clock, with programs starting at specified times. vMix supports sending video to a previously scheduled YouTube event; its own support documentation says vMix does not provide time-of-day scheduling for a 24/7 television-style lineup.
vMix describes itself as designed primarily for live-streaming single events and says it “does not support time of day scheduling.” Read vMix’s scheduling guidance, last updated January 17, 2025.
Send vMix to a YouTube event you scheduled
The documented process has separate steps in YouTube Studio and vMix. Scheduling the YouTube event does not itself start the outgoing stream, and starting the output in vMix is not the same as publishing the event to viewers.

- Schedule the event in YouTube Studio. Create a live event and choose the option to schedule it for later.
- Copy the event’s stream key. Use the key associated with that event.
- Enter the key in vMix’s YouTube Live destination. Check that vMix is sending the intended output.
- Start streaming from vMix. You can start sending the stream before the scheduled time, according to vMix’s guide.
- Check the preview in YouTube Studio. When it is ready, select Go Live in Studio as described in the documented workflow.

Use PlayList or List for a basic video loop
If your goal is to keep videos playing continuously rather than start particular programs at exact times, vMix’s PlayList and List features may be sufficient. They can play videos sequentially and loop, but they are playout tools—not a time-of-day programming scheduler.

PlayList
The vMix User Guide describes PlayList as a way to automate switching tasks or play multiple videos in sequence. Its documented options include looping back to the beginning when playback finishes, and setting an item’s starting position, duration, transition, and transition duration. These controls help determine how items play; they do not schedule a video to begin at a particular clock time.
List
vMix’s scheduling guidance also describes List as a way to play a video list as a single input, with loop and randomize behavior. It notes that List avoids loading every video at once, which can use fewer system resources. Choose between List and PlayList based on the playback behavior you need, and verify the labels and options in your installed vMix version.

If programs must start at exact times
vMix does not provide the built-in time-of-day schedule for this job. Its scheduling article mentions an open-source third-party project called vMix Scheduler, but says it is no longer maintained, may not work with current vMix versions, and is not supported by vMix. Do not depend on it without checking compatibility with your version and setup.

Common problems and checks
- YouTube event is scheduled, but no preview appears: scheduling alone does not send video. Start the stream from vMix and check that you entered the stream key for the intended event.
- The preview is visible, but the event is not live: in the documented YouTube Studio workflow, select Go Live in Studio when the preview is ready.
- A playlist loops, but the next program does not begin at its planned clock time: PlayList and List support continuous playback, not time-of-day scheduling.
- A third-party scheduler does not work with your vMix version: vMix warns that vMix Scheduler is unmaintained, may not work with current versions, and is unsupported. Verify compatibility independently rather than treating it as a current vMix feature.
Copyright and channel suitability
Before looping recordings publicly, make sure you have the rights needed to stream their video and audio. YouTube’s copyright and monetization decisions are separate from whether vMix can send a stream or loop a playlist; the cited vMix scheduling instructions do not establish that a particular recording is authorized or eligible for monetization.
