Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Add the Video Playlist source in XSplit Broadcaster, then open its source properties to review the playlist’s playback options. XSplit documents that Video Playlist supports custom transition and looping effects, but its public setup guide does not identify the exact controls or values. Check the installed version rather than guessing their names. The key distinction: a playlist transition affects playlist playback; scene transitions affect scene changes; YouTube Manual Transition controls when the broadcast goes live.
Set up a Video Playlist in XSplit
- In the scene for your radio stream, select Add source > Scene Widgets > Video Playlist.
- Open the Video Playlist source properties, choose Add, select your local video files, then choose Ok to save the playlist. XSplit’s setup instructions describe this workflow: XSplit support.
- In the playlist source’s own properties, inspect the controls for its custom transition and looping effects. XSplit confirms those capabilities, but its public setup guidance does not document the specific playlist controls or a step-by-step configuration. Do not assume a particular effect, duration, or label.
- Keep the source in the scene you intend to use for the radio stream. If you switch to or from that scene, configure any scene transition separately.
- Configure YouTube output separately if you are broadcasting there. XSplit describes Manual Transition as a way to control broadcast status through the YouTube Live Control Panel, not as a playlist effect. See its YouTube streaming setup guidance.
Which kind of transition do you mean?
| Transition type | What it changes | Where it is configured | What the documentation establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Playlist playback effect | Playback behavior for items in a Video Playlist | Video Playlist source properties | XSplit says the source supports custom transition and looping effects, but its public setup article does not enumerate the controls. |
| Scene transition | The change from one XSplit scene to another | The transition dropdown above the scene list, or Transition Manager | XSplit lists fades, wipes, zooms, stingers, and luma transitions. Transition Manager overrides are disabled by default; when enabled, they take priority over a favorite selected from a scene’s context menu. These are scene-change effects, not playlist item settings. |
| YouTube Manual Transition | Broadcast status: when a prepared or scheduled stream becomes live | XSplit’s YouTube output and YouTube Live Control Panel | This controls the broadcast’s live status, not the visual or playback transition between playlist entries. |
XSplit also documents selecting and timing transitions for many sources in a source’s Effects tab. The available documentation does not establish that this is the same setting as the Video Playlist’s custom transition effect, so treat them as separate unless your installed version or current documentation confirms how they interact.
What you can automate—and what remains undocumented
XSplit’s Macros extension documents the event When a media source stops and actions including Set scene transition and Set media source playback state. The playback-state action works on audio and video media sources. The documented macro actions do not include one for setting Video Playlist item transitions, so they should not be presented as a way to configure that playlist effect.
The image, video, and audio source help lists formats including MP4, WEBM, and MP3 and describes playback controls in source properties. A file playing successfully does not establish that you have permission to broadcast its music or video. Check rights for every item in your stream; XSplit’s format and playback documentation does not clear those rights.

Check YouTube Live eligibility before scheduling
XSplit’s YouTube setup page says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. It also says first-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours. Platform requirements can change, so check the current YouTube and XSplit guidance before planning a launch.
