Add the image as an Image File source in its own XSplit scene, then switch to that scene when one video ends and back to the next video scene when you’re ready. The image stays on screen until you change scenes; a transition such as a fade is optional.
Show one still image between video scenes
- Create an intermission scene. In XSplit Broadcaster, add a scene from the scene list or select a scene for the break. XSplit describes a scene as a collection of sources. Free users are limited to four scenes per presentation; premium licensing allows unlimited scenes. See XSplit’s Scenes guide.
- Add the image. Make the intermission scene active, then choose Add Source > Image File. Browse to the image on your computer and open it. XSplit lists common supported formats including PNG, JPG, GIF, WEBP, and TIFF; see its Image, Video, and Audio Source guide.
- Set its placement. Arrange and resize the image in the scene preview so it fills the broadcast canvas or sits where you want it. Check the actual output in your installed XSplit version before going live: the listed file formats do not guarantee that every image size or layout will suit every canvas.
- Switch scenes during the stream. When a video ends, select the intermission scene in the scene list. Select the next video scene when you want to resume. The scene list is where XSplit adds and switches scenes.
- Choose a transition if you want one. Select a transition such as fade or wipe from the transitions menu. XSplit uses the selected transition when switching scenes; its Transition Manager can override global transition settings for selected scene pairs. Details are in Scene Transitions.
You do not need to convert a still into a video or buy extra hardware for this setup: XSplit treats the image as a source in the scene.
Choose the right source for the break
| What you want on screen | XSplit option | How it behaves |
|---|---|---|
| One image held until you switch scenes | Add Source > Image File in a dedicated scene | Best for a single manually controlled holding screen. |
| Several still images shown in sequence | Add Source > Scene Widgets > Image Slideshow | Add images and set the transition, loop behavior, and interval. See Using the Image Slideshow. |
| Changing pictures and videos, or continuous break playback | Media Slideshow or Video Playlist | Use these when you want a sequence or ongoing playback rather than one still held on demand. XSplit outlines these options in XSplit Broadcaster Advanced Tips. |
| An image serving as the scene-wide background | Background Source | XSplit places it automatically at the bottom of the scene’s source list. Choose Image File instead when you need more control over positioning or layering. See Sources Menu – Introduction. |
Check the image and the broadcast before going live
- Preview the card in the installed XSplit version and on the intended canvas; the official format list is not a guarantee of how every size or aspect ratio will appear.
- Make sure you have permission to use the image and that it is suitable for your broadcast. XSplit’s source instructions do not establish copyright permission or whether a particular card complies with YouTube rules.
- Run through the scene switch and optional transition before the live broadcast so you can confirm the image appears as intended.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a YouTube channel that keeps looping uploaded videos 24/7, StreamNeo is a different approach from manually switching XSplit scenes: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running without a computer or home connection staying on. Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; if YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically recovers. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
