Set your YouTube stream’s title and thumbnail in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, not in IRL Pro. IRL Pro sends the broadcast feed; YouTube Studio manages the stream’s YouTube-facing details. Set them up before going live, connect IRL Pro, check the preview, then select Go live in YouTube.
Set the title and thumbnail in YouTube Studio

In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live to open Live Control Room. Create a stream, or select the scheduled stream you intend to use. YouTube’s encoder and streaming setup guidance describes this workflow.

In the stream’s setup or details controls, enter the title and any other available metadata. YouTube says metadata can be chosen when creating a stream, edited from stream settings, or edited while scheduling. For a scheduled stream, open its Manage/Edit controls and check which fields are available.

Add or upload a custom thumbnail in the stream setup or customization controls. Google’s live-production guide describes a custom event thumbnail as a 16:9 image. Check the current requirements shown in Studio before uploading: the cited guide does not establish current file-size or resolution limits.

Connect IRL Pro and start the broadcast

In YouTube’s stream settings, copy the stream connection details needed by your encoder. A stream key is a credential that connects the encoder to your broadcast; keep it private and do not include it in screenshots or public posts.

In IRL Pro’s broadcast settings, choose the protocol that matches the YouTube destination and enter the destination or publish URL and stream credentials. The IRL Pro setup guide documents destination/protocol configuration, not title or thumbnail editing.

Start sending the feed from IRL Pro. Wait for the video preview in Live Control Room, check that the feed is arriving as expected, and select Go live in YouTube when you are ready for viewers to see it. Sending a feed from IRL Pro and publishing it with YouTube’s Go live control are distinct steps.
YouTube recommends RTMPS, an encrypted extension of RTMP, when your encoder supports it. Test audio and motion and monitor stream health; suitable encoder settings, including bitrate, depend on resolution, frame rate, and codec. Follow the values and warnings shown by YouTube and IRL Pro for your setup rather than assuming one bitrate fits every stream.

If the stream is already scheduled or live
Scheduled stream
Open the scheduled stream in Studio’s Manage view and use its Edit controls to review the title and thumbnail. YouTube documents editing metadata while scheduling or from stream settings, but the available fields can depend on the stream state and current interface.
Encoder stream already sending
Check the stream’s settings or customization controls in Live Control Room for an available Edit option. The cited YouTube guidance does not guarantee that every title or thumbnail field remains editable after an encoder stream is live. If a field is unavailable, do not assume IRL Pro can change it; use the controls YouTube exposes for that stream.

Common problems and fixes

The title or thumbnail option is missing in IRL Pro: use YouTube Studio’s stream setup or Manage/Edit controls. The reviewed IRL Pro instructions cover the broadcast connection, not YouTube metadata.

YouTube shows no preview: confirm IRL Pro is sending, that the destination URL and stream key match the selected YouTube stream, and that the protocol is supported. Keep the key private while checking it.

The preview appears, but the broadcast is not public: check whether you have selected Go live in Live Control Room. Starting the encoder feed alone does not complete YouTube’s publish step in this workflow.

The thumbnail will not upload: check that it is a 16:9 image and follow the current file and image requirements displayed by YouTube Studio; the cited production guide does not specify current size limits.

Audio, motion, or stream health is poor: test before the broadcast and review YouTube’s stream-health feedback. Revisit encoder settings in light of the selected resolution, frame rate, and codec rather than changing bitrate in isolation.
