Making a YouTube live stream private should restrict who can watch it; privacy alone should not stop IRL Pro from sending video. The key distinction is whether YouTube is still receiving a signal. If it is, check viewer access and visibility. If it is not, troubleshoot the stream key, URL, protocol, bitrate, and network. The title alone cannot identify the cause.
First, identify what “stops streaming” means
Check IRL Pro and YouTube Studio while the problem is happening. YouTube says an encoder stream ends when the encoder stops sending content; its guidance is to stop sending from the encoder to end the stream. YouTube’s encoder instructions distinguish that transmission state from who can view the stream.
- IRL Pro is broadcasting and Studio shows an incoming signal: the feed is reaching YouTube. Investigate visibility, viewer permissions, and whether the viewer is signed into the intended account.
- Studio has no incoming signal, or IRL Pro is reconnecting: troubleshoot the URL, stream key, protocol, key status, bitrate, and network.
- The event ends while Studio still shows a healthy feed: check Studio or Live Control Room for policy or copyright notices.
If YouTube receives the signal, check privacy and access
YouTube offers public, unlisted, and private visibility. Private restricts access to the owner and people specifically selected to view it; unlisted streams can be watched by anyone with the link. A private stream may therefore appear unavailable or “stopped” to someone who has not been granted access, even if IRL Pro is still transmitting. Check the event’s visibility, the selected viewers, and the account currently signed in on the viewing device. YouTube’s privacy settings guidance
- Public: choose this for broad visibility.
- Unlisted: choose this when link-based access is suitable.
- Private: choose this when access should be limited to you and selected people.
If you are testing and do not want the stream broadly discoverable, set visibility deliberately in YouTube Studio. You can also review the archive’s visibility afterward. If there is no incoming signal, check the connection setup
- Replace the old URL and key. Copy the current complete stream URL and key from YouTube or the streaming service configured for IRL Pro, then replace the entire old value in the app. A rotated key or a change to key region or protocol can make the previous configuration invalid. - Match the protocol. Confirm that the protocol selected in IRL Pro matches the protocol configured for the stream. A mismatch can prevent the app from connecting.
- Confirm the key is active. Check YouTube or the configured service for an inactive or revoked key. Select or create a valid key, then update IRL Pro with the current connection details.
- Check bitrate against your upload connection. If the connection cannot sustain the selected bitrate, reduce it and test again. YouTube recommends enough upload bandwidth and warns that a connectivity disruption can break a stream. YouTube streaming tips
If the event ends despite a healthy feed
Look for warnings or enforcement notices in YouTube Studio or Live Control Room. YouTube says third-party content may lead to a temporary interruption or termination if it remains after a warning, and a copyright or Community Guidelines strike can terminate a live stream. Privacy is not enough to establish that it caused an event to end. YouTube live-streaming restrictions
