YouTube’s encoder guidance describes encoders as computer software or standalone hardware. The plan caps do not make IRL Pro an OBS substitute for this use case: its guide is still centered on broadcasting a mobile live feed. It does not document a prerecorded-video looping or playout workflow. Do not infer from that omission that the app is technically incapable of relaying prerecorded media.
How to run the stream from a computer with OBS
This is the local-computer route: the computer runs the encoder, so it must remain on and connected for the stream to continue. YouTube’s encoder setup allows selecting YouTube as the service or entering the YouTube stream URL and key. OBS-specific loop controls and settings are not established by the cited YouTube page; use the current OBS interface and confirm your loop behavior before relying on it unattended.

- Confirm the channel can go live. Check YouTube’s current live-streaming eligibility and setup requirements for the channel before preparing a long broadcast.
- Prepare the video and rights. Make sure you have rights to stream both picture and sound in the territories where viewers can access it. YouTube’s terms require compliance with its Community Guidelines and necessary worldwide rights for live content, including music licensing rights.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create a stream. In the stream setup, obtain the stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Configure OBS as the encoder. In OBS, select YouTube as the service if offered, or use YouTube’s stream URL and key as the encoder connection details. Start with a resolution and bitrate your upload connection can sustain continuously; YouTube’s encoder overview does not prescribe a particular OBS bitrate for this specific 24/7 use.
- Set up and verify looping. Add the prerecorded media using the appropriate OBS source or media-playback workflow, enable repeat/loop if available in the version you use, then watch a full transition from the end back to the beginning. Confirm that audio, video, and the YouTube preview remain healthy before leaving it unattended.
- Start the encoder and monitor the first run. Start streaming from OBS, confirm YouTube receives the feed, and check for dropped connection or playback errors. A local encoder workflow depends on the computer, power, operating system, OBS, and home internet staying operational; the sources cited here do not establish a recovery guarantee.
Plan the archive separately from the live broadcast
Do not assume one 24-hour broadcast will become a complete YouTube replay. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. It recommends keeping a local archive backup. For continuous programming, decide how to retain recordings independently of the live stream and split broadcasts only if that fits your programming and archive needs.

Copyright and monetization risks for looping video
Rights apply to every element in the stream
YouTube’s livestream terms say live content must comply with Community Guidelines and that the creator must have all necessary rights for worldwide exploitation on Google services, including music licensing rights. Owning a video file or having permission for personal playback does not by itself establish that you have the rights needed for a worldwide livestream. Check the permissions for the footage, music, artwork, game content, and any other material you include.

Repetition can affect monetization eligibility
YouTube’s monetization policies say their use of “video” includes livestreams. A clarification dated July 15, 2025 renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” to clarify that repetitive or mass-produced material can be ineligible under the existing policy. That does not mean every prerecorded stream is automatically demonetized; repetitive programming with little original value can create channel-level monetization risk.
