Fallout 76’s September 2026 roadmap plans World Pets for December, Hideouts for next spring, and a southeast map expansion toward Raven Rock in 2027. Bethesda has not announced exact launch dates for these updates, or detailed dimensions and quest lists for the Raven Rock expansion.
What is coming to Fallout 76?
Bethesda Game Studios’ September 30, 2026 letter from Creative Director Jon Rush and Production Director Bill LaCoste lays out plans through summer 2027. Its headline additions are a pet system, new bounty-focused encounters, and a map expansion toward the Capital Wasteland.
| Planned timing | Update | What Bethesda has announced |
|---|---|---|
| December 2026 | World Pets | C.A.M.P. pets can accompany players in the world and grow more capable as they adventure. |
| Winter; no exact date stated | Skyline Valley bounty hunting | Bounties in the region tie into the Blue Ridge Caravan Company’s closure of operations there. |
| Next spring | Hideouts | Challenging encampment encounters, a rival bounty hunter called The Drifter, and a planned “Marked” difficulty. |
| 2027; no month stated | Raven Rock map expansion | The map will expand southeast toward the Capital Wasteland, with a story set almost 200 years before Fallout 3. |
These are roadmap windows, not fixed release dates. “Next spring” and “next year” refer to the timing in Bethesda’s September 2026 letter. (Bethesda’s directors’ letter; Bethesda news index)
When is World Pets coming to Fallout 76?
World Pets are planned for December 2026. The update is intended to let a C.A.M.P. pet accompany its owner out in the world as a “C.A.M.P.-panion.” Bethesda says pets will become more capable as they level up alongside players. Existing interactions are expected to carry over, with new commands including “Stay,” “Follow,” “Protect,” and “Kill.”

Bethesda’s September 28 news listing also says PC players could test the latest World Pets changes on the Public Test Server alongside Skyline Valley bounty hunting. That is a test announcement, not confirmation of a general release date or proof that every tested detail will ship unchanged. (Bethesda news index)
What is the Skyline Valley bounty update?
The winter roadmap pairs bounty hunting with a return to Skyline Valley. Bethesda says the region’s bounties help explain why the Blue Ridge Caravan Company had to close its operations there, and presents the hunts as a reason to bring a combat-hardened pet along. The letter does not give a launch day or explain the bounty rules in detail.

What are Hideouts, and who is The Drifter?
Hideouts are planned for next spring. Bethesda describes them as dangerous encampments in abandoned areas, built around taking down a prominent enemy. They are meant to be more demanding than routine encounters, encouraging teams to experiment with routes and strategies. The studio positions them, at most levels, between the early endgame and Raids.
A new “Marked” difficulty is planned for experienced teams seeking greater challenge and rewards. The letter does not specify its mechanics or reward list.

The Drifter is a rival bounty hunter who will try to eliminate players and claim the rewards. Bethesda raises the possibility that the character is a rogue agent or an Enclave operative, but does not confirm either identity.
What does the Raven Rock map expansion add?
Bethesda says Fallout 76’s map will expand southeast toward the Capital Wasteland in 2027. The story is framed as taking place almost 200 years before Fallout 3 and before the Lone Wanderer’s journey. The letter also refers to a destruction that happened 27 years earlier; that is part of the announcement’s chronology, not an independently established calendar date.
