Here is a practical guide to the 17 abilities named in the available guide to Control Resonant: five traversal abilities, ten Resonant combat choices, plus Ignite and Inferno, which are mentioned as additional fire-build options. That is an assembled list, not a confirmed official in-game total. For combat, the Epic Games Store guide recommends Shield for survivability, Ground Slam for height-scaled area damage, and Growth for summon pressure; it also suggests pairing Growth with Spike.
How to choose the best ability
There is no single best pick for every fight. Consider the role you need, how the ability targets enemies, and what opening it creates. The combat loop matters, too: Remedy describes it as “In Control Resonant, aggression fuels power.” Senior Communications Manager Miika Huttunen explains that melee hits restore Combat Ability resource, abilities stun enemies to open executions, and executions temporarily boost melee damage. An ability’s value therefore depends on how it fits into your melee, ability, and execution rhythm. Remedy’s combat and buildcrafting overview explains that loop.
- For extra defense and an opening: the Epic guide recommends Shield, which absorbs damage and enables Shield Bash on dodge; the guide reports that Shield Bash has high falter.
- For area damage: choose Ground Slam if you can use height to increase its damage, as described by the Epic guide.
- For autonomous pressure: Growth summons up to two allies. The Epic guide recommends it and pairs it with Spike, which attacks nearby foes and can knock them down.
- For status synergy: the Epic guide says Mold abilities inflict Infected and Burn on an Infected target triggers an explosion; it also says Astralized enhances Burn and Infected buildup. The cited guide does not establish a full damage ranking for these combinations.
- For a more manageable ability system: Assist Mode offers adjustable combat settings, including Power Recovery Speed and Incoming Damage. Its options are detailed below.
These are role-based choices, not a universal ranking. The available sources do not provide comparative damage figures or test results.

This inventory is assembled from the abilities named in Jason Rodriguez’s September 23, 2026 Epic Games Store abilities guide. Its five traversal abilities and ten named Resonant combat choices are listed separately from Ignite and Inferno, which it mentions as additional fire-build options. The guide does not identify 17 as an official total.

Additional fire-build options
Ignite and Inferno are the other two names in the 17-ability working inventory. The Epic guide mentions Inferno as a complement to Ignite while discussing a Resonant Token and unlocking another combat ability in the Gap, but the cited passage does not explain their effects or unlock routes. Their mechanics and routes are therefore not detailed here.

Epic’s guide says the first Downtown Fault occurs during Orientation and provides Double-Jump, Elevate, and Rush. It associates Shift with the West Incursion Zone Fault and Reach with the Evacuation Zone Fault. For combat choices, it names the following encounter options:

That route information comes from a secondary guide, not a complete official catalog. Remedy’s official combat overview provides the broader progression context: abilities come from defeating Resonants, some encounters branch into distinct playstyles, and not everything can be unlocked in a single playthrough.

Keep encounter choices separate from ability-slot and token decisions. Epic describes a sixth ability slot and says a Resonant Token can unlock an additional combat ability in the Gap; those are separate from the boss-choice progression described above.

If managing ability resources or surviving incoming attacks is getting in the way, Remedy says Assist Mode can be changed at any point during gameplay. Lead Gameplay Designer Sergey Mohov lists these relevant options in the September 10, 2026 Assist Mode overview:

- Incoming Damage adjusts damage received.
- Outgoing Damage adjusts damage dealt.
- Outgoing Falter adjusts the falter you inflict.
- Perfect Dodge Window adjusts the timing window for a perfect dodge.
- Enemy Aggression adjusts how aggressively enemies behave.
Remedy says trophies and achievements are not gated behind Assist Mode. You can adjust the specific source of friction—such as power recovery or incoming damage—rather than treating every combat setting as an all-or-nothing difficulty switch.
