1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsAssassin’s Creed Mirage is a compact, stealth-and-parkour-led adventure that brings Basim to ninth-century Baghdad. It is best suited to players who want a more contained outing built around familiar series conventions; its return to those strengths may also feel mechanically basic or dated to some. Ubisoft’s free Valley of Memory update adds an AlUla story arc and gameplay changes, so the current game includes more than its original Baghdad campaign.
What kind of Assassin’s Creed game is Mirage?
You play Basim, a street thief who joins the Hidden Ones, in an adventure centered on ninth-century Baghdad. Ubisoft describes a city with four districts and emphasizes parkour, stealth, contracts, and assassinations. PlayStation positions it as a “smaller scale, back to basics” entry; that is the publisher’s framing, not a neutral measure of its quality.
In practical terms, Mirage focuses more tightly on moving through a city, avoiding detection, and eliminating targets than on an expansive role-playing-game structure. That focus is its central appeal if you miss the older series’ stealth-led rhythm. It is less compelling if you expect a major reinvention of the formula or especially deep systems.
Does the return to stealth and parkour work?
Review coverage reflects the same tradeoff. Metacritic’s critic excerpts include praise for a return to the franchise’s early strengths as well as complaints that parts of its design feel dated or basic. For example, Metacritic reproduces Push Square’s October 4, 2023 review describing the stealth and combat as “undeniably basic” while calling the game a refreshing reminder of the series’ original strengths. That is one critic’s assessment, not a universal verdict.
